How soon to get a 2024 HD Crew Cab Long Box 3500 Gasser LT

Recommended Posts

I know a long title but it pretty much explains it.   I would like to get a 2024 in my hands asap.  I know the GMC configurator is up so does that mean I would probably get a GMC sooner.    Does anyone have any real knowledge or experience other than the dealers standard 2-6 months answer.     I have a lot of miles on my 2020 and want to upgrade.

Wouldnt we all like to get our hands on a 2024!   I dont think Chevrolet has any real knowledge as to when these will be widely available.  Hence all the speculation and rumors at the dealers and forums.  Heck, Ive been trying to order a HD since 2022 MY and had 22 and 23 orders that were never picked up.

I ordered an LT crew cab 3500 std box about 3 weeks ago. Sources tell me dont look for it before June/July.

In contrast my 2021 was ordered Oct 30 2020 and built Dec 1 2020, delivery to me on Dec 14 2020

I suspect a lot of the problems with orders delayed or never built are at the dealership level where they take deposits for trucks without having allocations or they are manipulating their allocations for the deals that have the most profit. Mine is a GMS order but this will be something like the 15th truck I have bought from this salesman/dealership.

Yes I'm wondering about the dealer level problems too. I originally put in an order in Oct of 22 and was then told in January, all builds would now be 2024.  I'm actually happy about that now as I think the Allison transmission is a great upgrade.  I supposedly have the top spot for a 2024 at my dealer so hopefully GM can get it done.

My understanding is that GM has not released allocations to dealers yet. That will be crucial since any order is "preliminary" until the dealer receives allocation and assigns your order to that allocations AND GM picks the order up.

I was told by a source that it will be the end of March before allocations go out. From there any constraints will be placed and your dealer will have a chance to modify any orders they submit that contain a constraint item. Supplier issues are still a big problem and for things you would never imagine.

Are they actually assembling 24's now?  If so, are they just misc trucks for dealer stock?  I was also wondering why there hasn't been a media drive event for them yet, does that indicate more delays?

I just placed an order for a Summit White 3500 LT Crew Cab Standard Bed with the gas engine. The guy at the dealership showed me an order he placed for someone on 1/30 and it was already built and ready to be shipped. However, since I ordered leather on my LT it forced me into the Convenience Package II, which has "late availability" and no estimated build date. He told me I could expect to know more around May, but that's not 100%.

I also just found out that "Meteorite Metallic" is an option on the Z71 Sport package (which I ordered), and came home to find some pictures of the color on a 2024 Hummer EV. It looks a lot like Toyota's "Cement" color, which I had on a 2018 Tundra before some issues forced the dealer to buy it back (long story). I'm really leaning towards changing the color to that, but apparently that is "late availability" as well. Would be nice to know how late, because if I'm already waiting for the Convenience Package II then I might as well change (I've had too many white vehicles over the years...).

This is false from what I have experienced. I got a call from my dealership in January when they received an allocation and I placed my order. It was accepted immediately by GMC and got a tentative build date of 3/6 since that is the first week of production. As of this morning the tracking through GMC chat and my dealership confirmed that my truck is produced and does not have a chip hold and is awaiting shipping. Shipping is delayed but I was expecting that honestly.

I know of 2 other trucks that have been picked up by GMC and received allocations but I am unsure of build dates. One is a dually that is under constraint.

To OP, a little late in the game since most of the allocations are spoken for already. Good luck, I suggest checking dealerships as far and wide as you can handle to find a order close enough to pick up.

My truck is a fully loaded AT4 3500 Long bed, I selected what I wanted instead of what will get the truck built asap.

There seems to be a lot of conflicting information going around. I hope youre right and your truck gets built when you want it. I was also told that the first runs of production trucks will get extra scrutiny in the validation process and may take some extra time to ship. This info did not come from a dealer though.

My dealer placed an order for me on 1/31 using one of the HD's in their allocation. When I went in this week for an oil change, they checked on the order and couldn't find it. For some reason, it didn't go through. But, they did have another 3500 Dually in allocation with a "2000" status number (they said that's about ready to go to build - it gets a "3000" number when they start building it ultimately ending with "5000" as delivered). The general manager made a few changes to that truck to match what I wanted and they think it'll go into build in a week or two.

I ordered a High Country gasser in Blk on 1/28,it was accepted (2000) before i left the dealership. I got a call from my dealer today telling me the order was picked up and was at event code 3300 with a target production week of 3/13, next week sometime. hopefully it happens on time.

Dealer told me yesterday mine was built and back from the upfitter.  It shows a delayed status though.  High Country 3500 SRW Gas.  Ordered created on 1/19
