Sorry just to clarify, my 2500 is the gas L8T. And yeah it's so far the least reliable vehicle I've ever owned day in and day out.

Well I was talking about gas and diesel. Just going to my old shop the service trucks cover all the brands. The over 30 people who work there have all the brands including. A ford Shelby super snake, a TRX, two Raptors, including the R. A regular cab Ford 5.0 with the Roush package. Most used to drive modified diesels. That would include me before retirement. My mother still drives a 2000 one ton 7.3 diesel. With a 98 Ram 5.9 diesel. My late father’s ride. I favored GM. Unfortunately with the exception of my Trailblazer SS. GM seems to lag behind in real performance trucks. They tried with electric. That’s not going well for anyone. I’m intrigued with electric as my range isn’t as critical just for the performance. With the relaxed mandate some deals may be at hand. The VW has great lease deals on their electric SUV. I can park away from my house. Ok I’m rambling.

That is to bad..

Me, i love my 2024 3500 6.6 gasser, not a flaw any place on it, no mirrors rattling, no transmission oil leaking, no oil usage, runs and puuuurrrrrs beautifully.

My brother runs multiple ROW clearing crews. All trucks all specifically outfitted. He use to keep maybe two older ones as spares. Last count I saw six. I asked he said there’s two in the shop. He usually gets a new one every two years for himself. It’s been awhile. He says there’re all junk anymore. It usually electronics or with diesel emissions. He even has two. Both deleted. His boss does a spreadsheet and has a mix of brands. He’s moved away from diesel. As soon as he sees an advantage with a diesel they have an emission failure. They drive lots of miles but have slow speeds creeping up ROWs. That coupled with idle time. The diesel can’t take that anymore, emissions. They get a decent one they put miles on it. Like my brothers last one. A departure from the norm.

I have tried to get our fleet off anything with SCR aftertreatment if we can.  JCB makes engines so clean burn they have a permanent DPF built into the exhaust manifold/header self cleaning, only using DEF nothing else to get the exhaust beyond cleanliness levels required by EPA. Makes more HP and TQ too vs CAT, JD, etc.

The original topic, is how reliable is the 6.6 gasser.

Why i bought the 2024 6.6 gasser. Simplicity.

Im towing a little over half what mine is rated for in lbs, with a tall front ac unit 5ver, and does fine.

Simple motor, no egr even, no auto start stop, no cylinder deactivation, 8 spark plugs. For a direct injection motor, absolutely no ccv gasses going into the intake, that i have proven on mine by removing the passengers side intake tube for the valve cover to intake, spotless.

    Great transmission.

I came from a 2015 ram cumin's diesel. Great motor, like all, emissions arent made to use the thing like a car. Tow once in a wile, then use it like a grocery getter. Badddd. I had emissions problems, because of lack of working it, like it was made for.

So this new gasser is perfect for me and my needs.
