Six hours since hip surgery and I’m feeling great with meds. I’m hoping to do a flying dropkick.    Update did it moments ago.

I just heard from him. Today was PT day. Sore, some pain. His PT person is riding him hard and putting him up wet. 😆   bet he'll check in later today or tomorrow

My memory was my uncle telling me to hold on to the spark plug on the lawnmower while he pulled the rope. I never trusted him again.

Only once you venture past the I-5 megalopolis that extends from Bellingham near the Canadian border to Vancouver,Wa, in actuality a suburb of Portland although I'm sure Vancourverites would be greatly offended to be characterized in the same sentence as Portland.

It's strategic. "Silver loading": 

  • "Silver Loading" Strategy: Washington state implemented an emergency rule for 2026 requiring a uniform "silver load" adjustment. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits are calculated based on the cost of the second-lowest cost Silver plan in a given area. By artificially inflating the sticker price of all Silver plans, the state increases the amount of federal subsidy dollars flowing into the market. This aims to offset the loss of the ePTCs for low- and middle-income individuals.

I mentioned Portland, maybe I should have said not the one in Maine?  C'mon, without knowing your knowledge about Wa. state geography I was only trying to give you some visual context.

We had two dear old friends visit us for a Christmas season brunch yesterday.  At one point during our visit, we updated each other on our shared and individual medical issues.  All of us had many visits and medical treatments this past year and appreciate how our current health would be much different if we had unavailable / unaffordable health care. I sincerely hope there is no one participating int this thread who can't access affordable medical help.

Everyone celebrating Christmas and reading this thread have many, many memories of this special day.  Some recollections are so outstanding we may shed a tear or two at the dinner table tomorrow!  In an instant we've graduated from the kid's table to special accommodations at the grownups' table!  I wish  all of you a very Merry Christmas full of laughter and happy tears!

My brothers and I used to go to the mall together to shop. It actually was for the pizza. And shopping for our wives. Now it’s me and my son on Christmas Eve. Recently his son has joined us. Now a tradition going on 40 years. The family New York style pizza shops have expanded. There’s one right up the road from me. We frequent regularly.

About thirty years ago, I found myself Christmas shopping for my wife on the morning of Dec. 24.  Walmart was open 24hrs so I went there first.  It looked like a men's only club.  I commented to a sales clerk about this observation and she said it happens every year.  Men have a greater tendency to leave their Christmas shopping to the last minute.  Since then, I've learned my lesson.  I had my Christmas shopping completed by 5 pm Dec.23 this year! 😉

I'm back in physical therapy for my left shoulder, hope it helps with the dexterity of my hand also.

My shopping is done. We don’t buy each other much. I go to carry on the tradition, people watch and lunch with my son, grandson. It’s widely entertaining.

I also go to watch and will be at the mall in about an hour.  Funny to see families still visiting Santa!

      The curb weight on a 1 ton crew cab long bed is around 7k lbs.  Now, I don't know where you went to school but 9k is not more than 2x 7k lbs. More than 2x 7k lbs would be 14k+.   With that said, obviously yes you're going to feel a 9k lb trailer when slowing down.  I already said, when accelerating.  When changing lanes?  No.  But if you look at the context of what was quoted, the original person said, "after a mile or two..." which means that would be after the accelerating portion and you're driving a generally steady pace.  Please do learn to read and comprehend.

      So I purchased the Range unit for my 2026 and I am seeing different locations suggested for the ECM . Can anyone confirm wither under hood, left side or right side or behind the wheelwell?

      Like I've said before. Di and Carbon buildup is not that big of a concern. Engine had minimal buildup, and that engine was obviously not super well maintained. Do regular oil changes, and you're gtg as long as the rest of the truck lasts. Also, the High Pressure FP that people ****** about, but can't tell you why.  Now, I wish they'd trash the variable oil pump. No real world issues with them, but I'll gladly eat whatever miniscule MPG it's saving me in favor of more oil at all RPMs.    Curious to see his assessment of the 7.3 compared to the 6.6. I expect he'll praise the port inj, but from a structural standpoint, the 6.6 is as robust as any engine out there.    Not to take away from the 7.3. I feel it's equally as good as the 6.6.     As to heat on the rear cyls, I'd have to see numerous examples before I'd say it's an issue. Especially not knowing the history of that engine. For all is known, they could have blown a rad hose, and ran it hot, and the 2 rear cyls may be the first to get hot in a low coolant situation, but not be an issue aside from that.

      "Life is getting back to normal."    I'm driving again and all new joints are operating as expected for this stage of recovery.   My most recent joint replacement still requires a lot of attention but experience has taught me that time will quiet the remaining pain.  I joked with my surgeon that another joint replacement would take my mind off my most recent surgery and he responded by saying the next will be a hip!  There are no plans for another surgery but, unlike me, I don't think he was joking!  I certainly wouldn't refuse further replacement  if required but hope to spend time out of the "post-op"  period.  I can't stress enough that if you have been recommended for total hip, knee or shoulder replacement that you welcome the offer.  Post-op "recovery" may sound daunting and painful, however, this is far better than the insidious erosion of mobility you are currently experiencing.  Imagine what it would feel like to wake up most mornings feeling better and more mobile than you did the previous day!  Prior to my first surgery in June 2025, even getting out of bed was becoming a formidable task.  Since the day after my first surgery, I get out of bed everyday easily and unassisted.  Making the switch to feeling a little better each day rather than a little worse, is hugely motivating!
