Kind of off topic, but is there a reason the bright metallic blue that GM offered in 2024 is only available in half tons? Are the paint shops in Oshawa & Flint unable to spray it?

The video of the tour thru Oshawa made a comment about black, white and silver being to only colours they painted (or that's the way I took it). My Wed' was a bit hectic, so I didn't get down to the plant to check the 'field' and/or shipping yard across the street to see which colours were present.

With OT being cut and production back to 5 days a week I wouldnt look to see any additions for a while. I was looking at the build configurator for 2025 and a duplicate of my truck in the tri-coat red is not available in LT trim. I know for a while they had supply issues with paint but now I think its just a simplification so they can bang out as many trucks as possible. Not sure what the addition to the body shop will do to this situation. GM is like a box of chocolates, you never know what youre gonna get.

Before our plant closure they experimented w/ running a cab & box thru the Paint Shop over at the Car Plant (it had been built since 1986). If the plan had gone well & no closure, it would req'd an enclosed conveyor system to deliver & return them to the plant (the Car Plant already req'd this as it was across the street from the Paint Shop. I don't know the details of how it went, but when truck production begain for the interim K2XX run, articulated carriers vs 1 piece in the original Truck Plant were constructed.

Is any other trim colour besides black available on the LTs? It's not like the LTs don't have a maroon interior...

What art school grad came up with the name "Gideon very dark atmosphere" ?   These are trucks not Honda Civics.

Someone who's family never owned a truck & has never ridden in, let alone driven 1.

The color of my new motorcycle is “candy daring red” hahaha

How does it compare to candy apple red? Am I dating myself?

I envision man buns, $7 coffee and the inability to change their own flat tires or oil.

And the mindset that anyone who doesn't want a fully loaded truck, wants something that resembles a DOT truck. 🙄

My father's 2 trucks & my 1st full size truck had the Z62 trim package. (Sierra Grande/High Sierra in '82). Coloured cloth seats & colour-keyed rubber floor mat. Some chrome on the exterior as well. No painted bumpers or black plastic. I think back in those days that was a common trim level as I don't recall seeing a lot of YE9s (Silverado/Sierra Classic) trucks, even in Oshawa.

Oshawa only builds Chevrolet Silverado crew cabs.  They have the ability to build certain variants on 2500 and 3500 crew cab standard box chevys.  In addition, they can build 1500 crew cab short boxes chevys with L84 engine/5.3l.

GM's new winning with simplicity reduces exterior colors down to six per trim.
