Anyone have the skinny on the new software update that Chevrolet is pushing out only thru the dealership?

Also, has anyone tried GDE's Air Temp Sensor mod to see if it does in fact increase mileage?  After 6500miles of towing my small fiver (7k lbs, 12ft tall), I'm thinking I should be getting better than 8.7mpg at 70-71mpg.

What "software update"?  The Serial Data Gateway recall?

Towing MPG seems fine if you are gas.  Diesel, hard to say, but a 5th wheel, 12ft tall at 70mph, I hope you aren't expecting great MPG.  Try 55-65mph to see a mileage bump.

It's a Duramax I expect better compared to 3 other HD diesels I've owned.  Towing in the west where posted speed limits are 75-80mph would make driving 55mph a road hazard.

On other forums, it sounds like the update is for infotainment center issues.

I have towed a lots of miles with big travel trailers and fifth wheels and the sweet spot seems to be around 64 MPH no matter gas or diesel. A lot depends on driving style. I can gain at least a half MPG by driving without cruise and anticipating hills. My gasser gets a reliable 8 1/4-8 1/2 pulling my 12k fifth wheel. East of the MS river. Having a scan gage and monitoring as much data as possible is a big help. It keeps my mind occupied while driving.

I got the software recall notice Oct 3rd via email (6.6 gas). It's odd that there's no recall number/ID in the email. I'm going to call the dealer today or tomorrow.  I

I picked up my new 2024 in September & no email notice. My Silverado HD is a gasser w/ the LT trim. Does anyone know if the update is across the board or option/drivetrain specific?

Looks like everything with the big infotainment screen is targeted for the update.  I haven't received an email for my 2022 1500 yet.

Got my 2024 LTZ L5P flashed while getting an oil change today (25k miles in 14 months, servicing every 5k). Took an hour+ over normal service visits. Nothing noticeable to me, other than that the Android security patch level is now from 2024, which is an improvement, only noticed because I looked. The service manager said it fixed some battery drain issues.

As you all probably know we have the 2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD gas engine. We got an email saying to bring it in to the dealership for Software upgrade . I called the dealership to make an appointment and they said its a recall ,

Does anyone know what this all about É Is it an upgrade or a recall É

Thanks

I had a early build '24 Dmax, traded it in for another '24.  Got the email on the way home about the old truck, the new one had already had the recall done.  I can see nothing different between the two as far as that goes.  There are some other differences like the leather on the wheel, Kicker sound system in the tailgate, etc. but they are all pretty minor.  Not sure what the recall does.

Its technically not a recall, GM calls it a customer satisfaction program N242435631. My understanding is that its a new program designed to improve communication between modules and correct a possible situation where the battery may be discharging during a failed update. ( I believe is similar to what happened on some of the Colorados) There wasnt any information about the number or build dates of the effected trucks. I believe this was a mid year change once the new program was written so not all 24's will need it.

My truck has a build date of June 2023, so likely early production (I think the sequential number is 22016). I checked and I picked it up on the 20th. Is there a date when the update was released? It's possible that the dealership performed the update already.

Mine was built May 4th 2023. I havent seen any info on dates for the update.
