Does anyone know the fix for the sound cutting out on the radio and blue tooth? It is intermittent, for a second or so. The power is fine, it does not cut out.

Also, when this happens, the left hand steering wheel controls for the radio stations stops working as well.

I have been to the dealer several times for this issue. The said the replaced the radio. They can never get it to repeat.

Any correct help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you sure it is not your phone doing it.   Notifications or apps running on the phone will cause my radio to pause for app and then come back… some apps like GasBuddy will interrupt the radio with dead silence even when in Sirius channel.  So when that app is not running I never experience the “dead air” instance.   Probably has to do with the settings for the app.  I have never spent the time to figure it out…

That's a good theory. If that was to be true, it would not explain the steering wheel controls issue. But, it does make sense. Thanks.

We know this must be a frustrating problem, and our GM dealers are in the best position to take a look. Our team would love to act as an extra layer of assistance between yourself and the dealership throughout these repairs. We ask that you send an email to [email protected] with your VIN, dealership’s name and address, and your mileage. In the subject line, please include “GMC Trucks Forum” and your username.

scam, all they want you to do is take it to a dealer, which you already have. if you do find a solution let me know, i have a 2024 yukon that does basically  the same thing, no help from dealer because it is intermittent and no codes

The GM Customer Service thing isn't technically a scam, it is a legitimate organization. But how much they will be able to help in resolving your issue is debatable.

Still, contacting them won't hurt. IMO, contacting any part of GM that may be able to render assistance is worth the few minutes it takes to do so.

Has anyone ever used this? Is this legit or a scam?

I tried emailing that GM Customer Care contact, but they never responded.  I ended up fixing the issue myself.  It was cheaper, a more reliable method, and I know the solution was done correctly.

In order to tell you I'd first have to remember what the problem was.  Since I fixed it and moved on I doubt I'll remember it.

I have a similar problem, often and long-lasting. The sound will sometimes turn off if I touch the source button, any volume button, but mostly for no reason. All sound including the phone - callers can hear me but I can't hear them. The only way to get the sound back is to park and turn the truck off, carry the phone out of bluetooth range for 15-30 minutes, then get back on the road. I've tried "forget phone", turning the radio and phone off, checking running apps, etc. Nothing works.

Recall? I did an update a couple months ago.

it's a known issue and GM has been useless as always with me in getting it resolved. The recall work was done on my truck in October and since then my truck has been even worse than before with audio issues. After the recall work, my radio was updated to android 12 but EVERY phone call I am on will result in the caller playing through the speakers with an annoying crackling sound. The audio cutting out problem has never been fixed at all and has gotten worse. It mutes every sound, the turn signal sound, your radio, calls, etc. It seems to me like the amplifier is turning off then back on.

I am running OS build Y172 and others have reported that the Y175 update or newer fixes the issue of the bluetooth audio crackling but nothing about the audio cutting out and back in. I have a 2023 and others who reported the fix with Y175 firmware have a 2024 so i'm not sure if mine will get fixed but I have another appointment with the dealer Wednesday to have them try to flash the radio again but they will replace the radio module.

The best thing is GM customer service won't do anything until the idiots at the dealership try their useless attempts to fix the issue and the dealer claims my truck is fully up to date but I swear the idiots didn't do anything but hit check for updates in the radio when they need to use their programmer to update the firmware higher.

There are service bulletins for the exact issues of audio cutting in/out and bluetooth crackling and it reads that the dealer is to do nothing but apologize for the issue and alert customers that GM is aware of the software bug and it will be fixed in another update in the future. It also specifically states to NOT replace the radio module like my dealer is trying to do.

I love the truck but these software updates and GM firing the programmers who develop the truck is getting to the point that I hate this truck. GM also loves to patch problems like the transmission lockup failure with a software fix and not an actual legitimate repair.
