Badbird2000 Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 Maybe this topic has been asked and covered, i didn't find much. I bought a new 2024 GMC Sierra last year, with a 6.2 and max tow package. I have a 2020 Rockwood MiniLight that came with a tire pressure monitoring system, and the dash mount device. I had new tires put on the camper last year, and the first time i pulled it with the new truck i tried to set up the existing system. For whatever reason, couldn't get them to register. I followed the directions on the trailering app. After that i got thinking, should my truck have come with extra sensors in the glove box? I purchased it out of state, and it was delivered to me, so i never got to ask about it before hand. If the trucks don't typically come with them, well, kinda lame, but ok. I assume i can buy the correct type online that will mate up with the truck trailering app? Everything else works great, pulls like a dream.
redwngr Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 On most trims the sensors for TTPMS are a separate order item from the trailering app. They are only standard on AT4X and Denali Ultimate Available on AT4 and Denali (without adding other options) Available on SLE and 3SB version of Elevation (note 1 applies) Available on SLT (note 2 applies) 1500. Sierra max tow (NHT) is only available on SLE, Elevation (3SB) or SLT. You have NHT, so trailer sensors would have been extra. Check the QR code on the bottom of the doorpost of your truck. If the rpo codes listed include PTT then your dealer owes you a set of sensors. 1
2016 Sierra Owner Posted August 29, 2025 Posted August 29, 2025 In 2019 the extra sensors for the trailering package were included. They made them a separate item that had to be added in the 20+ trucks. On that note. They changed the frequency that the sensors work off of on the trucks tires in the refresh models. I don't know if that applies to the trailer sensors or not. I would think it was changed also. If you do buy a set I'd make sure the frequency is correct on the ones you buy. 1

For the refresh they changed the operation of the sensors from a manual learn sensor to an auto learn sensor and there in lies the compatibility issue in using a pre-refresh TPMS on a refresh and vice a versa. They talk to the trucks different than 19-22. Edited August 29, 2025 by newdude 1
