2026 3500HD 6.6 gas.

Happened a few times now .

Radio works fine, then stop and shut off truck. Come back 20 minutes later start truck, no sound. I'm sure the dealer hasn't a clue or can't replicate.

Ideas?

BTW

My 23 High Country did similar things. Like go black while you're driving.  No sound no nothing. Then it would come back on after a minute.

Things like this piss me off they know there's a problem but just keep using the same schittty part until the next generation because it's easier to find new buyers than keep long time customers (47 years, 23 Chevy trucks, most were new) like me.

Yeah my ‘24 ZR2 was a bit twitchy, sound cutting out, etc.  seems like this has been an ongoing issue since maybe 2023.  I saw that some tried replacing the amp at some point but it did not solve anything

Are you talking Sirius radio? As you can see the station, song and artist but no sound? Also, no sound from either AM or FM bands?

Nothing worked

Press and hold the mute/call hang up button on the right steering wheel controls for 15-20 seconds.  That hard re-boots the radio.

If that doesn't solve the sound issue, there's likely an update the dealer can perform.

The more technology the more unreliable things seem to be getting.

no issues at all with my 22 radio but it’s on the older technology.

Only thing that works is let it sit for a while.

If it keeps doing this it's going in to the dealer.

The hard-reboot has worked for me. I hold down the hang up button  while the screen clears and continue to hold until it comes back on. I probably need an update as I’m still showing the I’m running Android 10. I don’t have On Star so I’m guessing it would need to be Dealer installed. Don’t really want to part with the coin to have it done. Do I even need to?

Radio updating is covered under Bumper 2 Bumper if you still are in that 3yr/36mi period.  You'd just have to express one or more of the concerns in the current radio update bulletin and they'd be able to flash it.

GM doesn't track the software via what level of Android Automotive it has, rather, they track it based on the build number.  Y181 is the latest and greatest software.  Example below of the page with the prior build Y177.

25-NA-318: Radio Software Version Y181 – Multiple Updates for Infotainment System RPO IOK

A new radio software update, version Y181, was released to service vehicles equipped with Infotainment system RPO IOK. In addition to providing general robustness and stability enhancements, this update includes all enhancements from previous software releases. Along with the vehicles mentioned above, vehicles in unconnected markets may need the dealer to reprogram the radio with the new software package.

Most notable improvements included below:

Audio:

  • No audio
  • Intermittent audio cuts
  • Audio echo

    Radio Display:

  • Black screens
  • Blank screens
  • Radio App blank screens
  • Radio display freezes

    Radio Performance:

  • Radio resets
  • Radio is stuck on device starting screen
  • Return to dealer screen

My build date is Y169.3.2 so I’ll give the local Dealer a call.

Thanks very much.

So I have had this happen twice now. First time was a short stop with about a 20 minute off period. Next restart it was fine again. Sunday it happened but this was after the truck was off for over 5 hours. Did the hard reset and it was fine. Wonder if more then just the few of us have been having this issue. My truck is out of factory warranty and really don't want to pay the deductible just to have an update done.

Had the same issue multiple times.  Dealer could not replicate, of course, so nothing was done.  At least its documented for whatever thats worth.

Had this happen to a few times. No sound at all, including turn signals. Reset via the hangup button on the steering wheel cleared it up.
