Based on my RPO codes I have a G80 rear diff. No trace of su7 or su8 which seems to be the common rear diff.

I’m trying to find the correct gasket and also with the g80 it appears you’re not to use limited slip additives. I crossed 100k miles so figure the service is due.

Is this g80 in a su7 or su8 housing?

diff cover/size/shape does not change whether there is a g80 inside or not.  If you bought the truck used, anything could be inside.  It probably still has the g80, but it might have been swapped to an open diff (my '04 3500 was), or it may have been swapped to some other locker.

And you don't want to use limited slip additives w a g80.

You need the full build sheet or call the dealer with your VIN and see what axle you have.  The cover gaskets are different between SU7 and SU8.

SU7 axle uses 85720902 which is a rubber coated steel gasket.

SU8 uses 84412728 which is a fiber type with a lip seal on the inside of it.

it is a 12 bolt diff so the gasket should be 85720902

Two different gaskets.  SU7 and SU8 use two different gaskets.  Both are 12 bolt.  See my above post.

The Dealer should help like stated above.  You could always buy both gaskets and when you remove the cover see which one you need.  On my 2019 silverado I just reused my gasket. It was the rubber coated one just like on our 2016 suburban, which I reused as well, no leaks.

Pic/screencap borrowed from AFE. You can look at the identifying marks on the differential to tell which one it most likely is.

You can see how the gusseting and characteristics of the covers are slightly different.

There are similar pics out there for the front diff if you're looking for that too; it's even easier to identify as the cover is a slightly different shape.
