Recirculating air

Has anyone figured out a way to make it so the "recirculating air" comes on automatically when you start your truck or just turn the air on? Whats the point of disableing this? It drives me nuts to get in and out of my truck, forget to hit THE button and be suckin on diesel fumes inside my truck! No wonder GM is in trouble, they drop the ball on the simplest of things......

Yeah, in my '95 K3500 I could leave it "on" or leave it "off", the recirc button was a manual push-push button. I miss that too.

Just wondering...I know a lot of people don't like diesel fumes, but since your truck isn't a diesel, you must be talking about other people's diesels. Are you referring to the once-in-a-while diesel exhaust blast you might get from, for example, a yellow school bus?

If so, I couldn't agree more. But what gives those people the right to blow diesel exhaust in everybody's faces, anyway.

Yeah, I live in SoCal and have tons of Semis on the freeways, so when I forget THE B UTTON, I get a healthy reminder of why Id want to recirc the air in the first place...:chevy:

I dont have a newer truck, but is there a MAX setting on the temp control knob?

Most GM's I've been in made after '94 (except those that had Auto Climate Control) had a MAX setting that automatically put the HVAC system into recirc.

Man I HATE that! Do you have an auto AC system? All GM's I've had with auto AC systems would do that, turn off recirc after a restart. I will NEVER buy an auto AC system just because of that, until they fix it so recirc stays on. That said, my 01 manual system stays on recirc all the time except if the air output is changed to the lower vents then it turns itself off.

I hope GM did not change it so even the manual systems turn off recirc at restart.
