2007 SLE DIC Upgrade

Recommended Posts

Posted

Just went and looked in my truck to see if I had the plug-in. I was sorta disappointed at first because I didn't see it even though i got a SLE 1 package with a bunch of upgrades. Until i realized that the one clip wasn't plugged in to anything!! (Doesn't help I've been working since 3 AM with only 3 hours of sleep :dunno: ). Can't wait to order it up!

Nice work Daddy!

Wow, thanks for this post! I've been searching all over trying to find a way to add the DIC to my 2007 Silverado LT.

A quick question though, is the dash plate the same for both the Sierra and the Silverado? Meaning, will the part linked to work for both?

Thanks!

i have a 2007 silverado classic/ "the 2006 body style" and i cant find the dic part number or do i have to get a new steering wheel sense the controls for a dic are located there

best mod ever!!!!

Installed it on my 09 Chevy Z71, works great. All the data was storing in the computer from mile one......or mine is jacked up and it lists a shite load of hours.

Man im pissed my 09 doesent have the wiring just took it out and I do not have an extra plug!! WTF! i wanted to do this bad

Look for the wire clipped to the existing panel. You would be the first person not to have the necessary cabling in place if this were true. BUT, if you look again and find it, you won't be the first person to have just missed it the first time. Good luck!

Just checked again I Do Not have the wires there. All the wires I have are for the dome /dash lights and the headlights. Freakin gay man I wanted to do this upgrade!!! Maybe they stopped running extra wires for 09s. Who knos

Did you look thoroughly back in behind the panel? It may me tangled up up with other wires. You would be the first I've heard of, not to have one available. I've done 3 '09s recently. Plus one of the previous posters has the same truck as you apparently, he was able to do it.

Ill check again its deff not clipped in the socket. But i did it quick.

I have a 2009 GMC NBS 4X4, I ordered the DIC switch & Headlamp Switch Plate/Panel seperatly cost me $55.00 total for the mod.I too was alarmed when it was not in plain view expected the harness to be hanging there was not till I calmed down and took a good look at the back of the switch plate & noticed it has a "dummy" Port/slot for the DIC Harness plug they plug into the back of plate for NON-DIC equipped ones. Its probabaly there, the harness looks like it is connected to switch plate, but it is basically plugged into plastic..nothing.

Its a small plug, forgot how many wires..3-4 possibly.

Agreed. They are there, they just aren't hanging loose.

Is it a small plug? I just ran outside and took it apart again? there one that is tapped to the harness like 5 wires small plug tho? not connected to the plate is that it? anyone have a pic of the back of the controls?

Here are the pics. As I explained, it is very simple to do this as evident by the fact that I basically just did it again in order to take these pics.

This is the old piece of dash.

The red arrow shows the cable that is already there now attached to the switch.

Now for the new piece with the switch installed.

There are many more screens but here's a shot of the way the display is now used.

I hope this is enough to get the point across.

Did I mention that the switch is also back-lit to match everything else in the truck when the lights are on?
