so it does not matter if its an LT? the GM Accessories Zone says its not for use on LT Models. and its the Same Part number as on the Ebay Listing. (GM Part #19159438)

No,It will work on yours.

Well, as soon as the Weather warms up, I'll pop the cover off, and check for that Pigtail.

Its there,trust me....you have it.

but why does GM not want you to put it on an LT? if anything, these DIC Button Upgrades would sell like hotcakes if they said its good for all trim levels!

They sell it for the LT...Trust me,It fits the LT! :fume:

Its the way its listed on these on-line parts sites,It makes it look like it does not fit the LT trim level, but it does.

What the kit doesn't fit is the LTZ/SLT trim level because of the location of the switch and the difference in the trim plate, but those trim levels have the DIC as part of the trim package already,so you don't need to upgrade.

Well kinda'....You'd almost have to be a GM parts guy to understand what I mean, and how GM lists what some of these parts fit sometimes, heres the offical listing of the DIC upgrade...

Driver Information Switch - 19159438

Switch Package,Drvr Info Display;Exc LT/SLT trim (For use w/o RPO Code SLT)

Now looking at that I can understand why you'd think it wouldn't fit your truck,However if you do not have RPO code "SLT" (which you don't) it will fit your truck.

Trust me (and daddy) It will fit your LT trim level truck,I've sold many of these kits.

Thanks to BelchFire's excellent instructions in post #532, I installed the DIC switch in my stock panel today. Only ended up having $29.05 in it, so I guess that makes it ANOTHER CHEAP-*SS MOD! Thanks to Daddy and BelchFire!

HINT: if the wiring seems too short, take the switch out of the panel and plug the wiring into it, then snap the switch back into the panel, and snap the panel back into the dash.

I installed a DIC in my 2009 Silverado the other day, exactly how "Daddy" described.

It took under 15-minutes.

To remove the old panel, I didn't have one of those nylon removal tools, so I improvised with half of a wooden clothes pin. It worked great!

I started by prying the top open and insterting the pin, which gave me enough room to work the rest of the locking tabs loose. Kind of unconventional, but it worked great and saved my fingers from getting pinched.

Once I got it installed, I was amazed to find that my average gas mileage was 16.2mpg.

Watching the active fuel management work was also amazing as my mpg went from 7mpg to as high as 99mpg.

As far as I'm concerned the DIC is a must have mod.

The next mod I have planned is some rear wheel house liners.

Did mine back when I bought it and it worked like a champ. Easy to do too! Best 80 dollar mod ever!

I just wanted to let everyone know that adding the Driver Information Center (DIC) to your 2007 SLE is a snap.

I ordered the part from gmpartsdirect.com. The install took 5 minutes.

Directions (I would have taken photos but it's really unnecessary as this is so simple.)

*******************************************************************************

1. Turn the truck off.

2. Pull the old section of dash (on the left of the wheel) off by hand.

3. Remove the light controls (simple plastic clips).

4. Remove the extra cable clipped into the piece of dash (it's already there just not being used...YET!

5. Install the light controls into the new piece of dash (yes it comes with the new piece of dash, new vent and the switch)

6. Plug the previously non used wire into the new switch.

7. Put the new dash plate back into place by hand.

8. Turn on the truck! You're done!

This mod gives you access to fuel mileage, range, gallons used, V8/V4 mode notification, tire pressures, tire sensor learning, key fob learning, chime volume, entry and exit lighting schemes, lock and unlock schemes (including automatic lock/unlock), unit and language choices, engine hours and probably more that I have forgotten already.

The beauty of all of this is the cost - $100.22 shipped.

Enjoy.

If you have questions, let me know!

Daddy.

Used your instructions to install my new DIC last summer. I wish they'd take your description and make it the install instructions. Couldn't be more right - install is a snap. Took me 10 minutes (and I was taking my time).

To all out there who want to install a DIC on your Silverado - use Daddy's instructions! They won't steer you wrong!

Did this mod a while back and it was really worth it and cheap. This how to thread and a few others I think should be stickied somewhere. Just my 2 cents

Just bought a 2010 Chevy 1500 LT on saturday. Saturday night found a DIC panel on Ebay for 60 bucks. Arrived to the office this afternoon and I had it installed within 15 mins. Awesome upgrade. This website is amazing, but is gonna drain my bank account!!!! Keep up the good work guys.

daddy's post #1 tells you everything you NEED to know about this easy mod. It's up to you if you want to do your own comparison shopping for a better price on the DIC panel and/or switch. Good luck.

Did you actually read the thread?? Go back and there is exact specifications what parts you need. Actually only one part you need to order or find. Takes less than 20 minutes to do. Maybe even less than 10
