Exhaust Question

On a 07 gmt 900, 6.0 what is the second muffler looking thing at the end of the system? Resonator? Should I leave this on if putting on a differnt muffler (I like Flowmaster sound)?

Just buy a Flowie catback. The resonator is there to make the exhaust sound a certain way from the factory. It either quietens, deepens or smoothers out the exhaust note. If you replace the muffler with something like a Flowie, the resonator may stop it from popping and crackling, and may deepen the tone.

 

But if you like the sound of a Flowmaster than just go buy a cat back system.
