HEY, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EMAIL ME THE TSB ON THE GM TRUCK EBONY CLOTH SEATS ?

There was a TSB, then there wasn't. There is no solution as of yet, only a long thread with lots of lint in it :dunno:

I have been fighting with Chevrolet, and my dealership. They said there wasn't anything they could do at this time. I have my claim still open with Chevrolet, but the did give me a 12 month or 12,000 mile care coverage.... not sure what all it covers, but got the letter today and should get the Certificate in the next week or so - Guess it covers oil changes and such. I will not give up on this. EVERYONE need to complain, they will have to do something is the complaints just keep rolling in.

Success finally. My service manager talked to the area rep, and apparently this guys boss was there was well, and the manager has been given authorisation to replace all the seat covers in the truck  . The days of lint and a lint roller are coming to a close. The manager is going to talk to the parts department and look at the seat options available, and let me know what I can get. I also mentioned Katzkin and he told me if I want them, he will let me know how much is authorised to spent, and if these seat covers are over his limit, I pay the difference. Too easy. Persistance is not futile.

Any updates?

I talked to the service manager again and what he was authorised to me seat covers, vaue at approx $300.00. I told him that I was looking at getting Katzkin seat covers, and he told me to go for it as I would be happier with that as opposed to the covers. He is going to talk to his boss, tell him the plan and see if he can pay for most of it, but he is willing to pay for 1/2 the Katzkin's. Better then nothing. He is also going to contact an upholstery shop and see if he can book the truck in under GMC to get them installed and that will give me a better price as well as opposed to me calling up and making an appointment. For me to get them installed, it is $500.00. So hopefully he can get them on for less $$$. The Katzkin covers were shipped yesterday, so the countdown for the "Last days of the lint" are coming to an end.

mine is going in tuesday morning; if they dont have a solution; its going back to GMAC. simple as that. they promised a fix and have danced around it for a year now. i refuse to pay for something that looks this bad. my 04 had great cloth; my 06 had that cheap leather, so i back to cloth and this is the best they can do? no wonder they are having issues

Here's my story. I started investigating this seat cover issue back in Feb. of this year. The local dealer replaced my front seats for me about 3 months ago, however they ordered the wrong back seats. By the time the rear seat covers arrived I told them to not even bother because even though they ordered the correct part numbers from TSB the covers they received were made from the same EXACT material. To make matters worse, the pockets on the backs of the front seats are coming apart.

I tried to get them to upgrade me to leather but they (GM) drug their feet long enough to come out with another TSB with a new number "I guess". So my new covers are on order and due any day now.

The dealer has been helpful in this situation, it's hard not to get pissed at them, I keep having to remind myself that they are at the mercy of the manufacture. I work in a similar situation, so I know how it can be.

Not only are the covers garbage I think the whole seats are terrible. I noticed the push button for the drivers side head rest was missing the other day, then yesterday I was moving the passenger side head rest up and that button goes flying out. I managed to fix it though. But I am sure it will break again.

You got GM to buy it back?...Thats pretty interesting, and nice there doing that, usually they only buy back vehicles with "safety" issues.

Are you referring to the new "old" covers to replace the ones with busted pockets or are you referring to some actual "new" type of seat cover from GM designed to solve the lint issue?

No offense but I don't think the phone book in the map pocket helps your case. Lint is an issue across the board. Your map pocket issue isn't.

Yeah I was looking at the same thing, looks way over stuffed with things and too much weight on what there designed for.

I love that the dealers get a free pass in all of this. It's not like I bought it used. They made money selling it to me but bear no responsibility for it? I know if I put something in your house that goes to shit, I'll make it right. Regardless of what the manufacturer does. It's called having integrity.

    • Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.
    • The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.
    • Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.
    • I can't believe that could possibly be the case. It should be 36mo/100k miles from installation. Then again, it also seems like since a dealership installed it, it'd all be in the system and you wouldn't need to worry about registering, either. Shows you what I know. 😄 Hope this one outlives the warranty!
