Okay 6th trip to Local Parts changer and 6th Instrument panel cluster....NO change! Speedo still will stay at zero or it will work fine or bounce from current speed to a lower speed. Cruise will work even if Speedo does not, and Speed Sensor works fine as well, switched the speed sensor with the 4wd sensor (same part) no change good or bad. Chevy don't have a clue and I don't either...Any new thoughts other than never to buy a GM again!!!

Thats a good way to get help.

Point Taken! However its hard to not be pissed each time I have to leave work to take my truck in just to get it back each time with it still not working! Can't wait for my first speeding ticket. hard to stand up for Gm right now... If the truck ever gets fixed it will be a different story.

helpful tip, go buy a ford. then it will catch fire and explode. will put your little complaint in perspective :)

Buying a Ford is just asking for trouble. Which is why I bought chevy in the first place.

your dealer sucks. This is not the fault of General Motors

Years ago I had a Volkswagen car which I bought new and I had a speedometer problem as soon as a drove it off the lot. I had the speedometer replaced under warranty and the new one failed within a week. then had this one replaced and the next one failed too. this went on for another few months until I got fed up. Then, I found that the manufacturer was actually using "rebuilt" speedometers as new replacement parts. Of course, they were rebuilt improperly, because they worked for only a short while. When they finally put a new one in , the problems stopped.

I am curious if GM is not doing something similar with these clusters. Demand that they give you a brand new cluster, not a rebuilt one, if that is the case.

when qa cluster is replaced, yes they old one is sent out to be rebuild. thats the case with most core parts. the parts guys rarely have control over that tho. maost are sent to them by specmo c/o gm

Could it be a bad ground/wire/connector between the speed sensor and the speedometer? Sounds to me like the speedometer/cluster is not getting a constant voltage feed from the tranny. That's my guess.

Thanks for the replys. As of today Chevy has the Truck and I'm driving a loaner, so I'm hoping they find and fix this issue soon. Bad part: is the miles being put on the Truck by the dealer for they can see what it is doing (they warned me they would be putting some miles on it). They do salt like crazy here but the truck has only been through one winter, before that it was only driven in Nevada. The Dealer did say the replacment clusters are not 100% That is at least why it took 6 being put in until they started looking for another cause. Dealer does seem to be trying to fix this problem. Thinking it could be a bad conection as well.

This could be something as simple as a wiring harness connection issue. The ridiculous part (that has you pissed at the truck, GM, and the dealership) is the fact that they keep replacing parts even when they don't have a frikkin clue what the problem is. I don't blame you. I'd be GM pissed right now too. I'd probably be pissed at everybody. I would be hacked off at any brand after this much hassle over one issue.

Tell them you don't want it back and don't intend to bring their loaner back until they have it solved.

It's a darn shame that such crappy service has to happen and sour your opinion of your otherwise excellent truck. Believe be. They are not all like that.

Good luck and keep us posted.

If you think 6 speedometers clusters is bad, consider this. I read on an Audi website that one Audi customer had a defective motorized rear sunshade, which, within a space of about 6 months, was replaced 15 times! One would think that at some point they would have started looking for a problem elsewhere.
