Adjusted Bumper Tonight On 08 Sierra

Since picking up my truck last week there has been something that my eye keep getting drawn to. the front bumper alignment where it meets the tire. THere was a gap at least 1/2 larger then the rest of the gap where it meets the upper bumper plastic. it was driving me nuts. looked like the truck was in a front end crash. i was able to raise it at least 1/2 on each corner. very simple too.

just had to loosen 3 bolts push the bumper up and tighten the 3 bolt back down. would have been easier if i has another person to hold the bumper up. i just jammed a couple pieces of wood there to hold it. i attached 2 pics of the bolt that have to be loosened. the bolt in the second pic is behind the wire loom for the fog light but if you look under your truck its pretty easy to see what bolts have to be loosened. its the tubular bracket that holds the side of the bumper up.

now i can continue to look at the beauty of the truck without getting ill.

Did you have before/after pics of the sheetmetal on the outside?

Also. I assume you are talking about the gap where the chrome meets the painted plastic filler on the sides?

Or is it were the the two sides have a tight fit and the center of the bumper and the plastic piece has a bigger gap?

yes the gap between the chrome and painted part. it was only out at the ends where the bumper ends and the wheel well is.

crepitus,

So...did you have an oil leak...or what did you smell burning??

How do you like the 08 so far??

i do really love the truck. put 160 miles on it today. first time i spent alot of time in the driver seat on the highway. the ride is far better then my old truck. the afm is a bit annoying. it seems that when it kicks in the trucks seems to slow down. i already contacted black bear about a tune. had one on my last truck and it was a night and day difference.

2 more things i have to fix that are annoying me. i still do have a oil smell coming from the truck. very noticable at stop signs and when i back out. not burning oil but like a vent that is not hooked up. i can not smell it when just running in the driveway. i have been under the trck and no luck. the other thing is the driver door makes a rubbing sound at the top corner where it meets the back door (extended cab). when i push on the top of the door it seems to go away. havent figured that one out yet.

have some mods coming too. just got the gm bed rail caps and the molded carpeted floor mats. my husky mud flaps should be here next week. the 20" tires really throw alot of stuff up the side of the truck. pics of all the mods to come once they are all installed.

I haven't noticed the rubbing sound...yet...but that's one thing I hate about the Ext. cabs with the "suicide doors"..they never seem to be aligned right. The 02 S-10 I traded in on my Sierra had the door squeak as did the 2000 Silverado I had years ago. On the 08, I don't get that "solid" door closing thud...it looks, feels, and sounds like it's a tit out of adjustment. Or maybe that's just the nature of the beast with this design?

Every excab with the center meeting doors sounds like that to me. The rear door doesn't make for a solid surface to close the front door against I guess. So far I don't think anybody is having problems with it. You might need an adjustment for the creaking sound though...

exactly. mine does not sound like its making a solid closing sound either. maybe it is just the nature of it. my last 06 didnt have any problems of making nosies around the door.
