There was a problem with some 2004 and 2005 speedometers.

Warranty was extended to 70,000 miles.

Might want to check with your dealer to see if you are covered.

It was the 03/04's, not the 05's.

I quess i will try the stealership and see what they say Is the speedo cable driven ?

yeah mine is actually going in reverse, today while driving down the highway mine was actually decreasing the speed all the way to zero. untill i turned off the truck for a few minutes it came on and worked again

Here's a great writeup on replacing the stepper motors. He used some from another cluster. I just bought new from ebay.

not sticking but always off by 8 mph or so. with stock wheels and tires on. gmc said theres room for 2-3 mph diffrence/

This adjustment can be made by a good tuner. BS on the room for 2-3 mph difference. It can be recalibrated to be spot on.

took my truck to the dealer he scanned it and ordered a new cluster for the truck. it was all covered under warranty he said it was extended to 70,000 mile on the cluster all is well now, thanks
