Had a topic recently that I was having my rear pinion seal replaced, that got done and it was replaced under warranty....Here's where the problem starts.

Received call from dealership and was told "your truck is all washed up and ready to go". Right then and there I thought NO WAY did they wash my truck after being told not to and seeing my DO NOT WASH signs hanging all over.

I went to pick up my truck and it looked like they washed it using steel wool pads. Pointed it out to service manager right away and was told "must have been like that when you dropped it off" (he's got to be kidding).

When I dropped the truck off, it was 100% scratch free, got done a full detail a few days prior. Only imperfections were a few chips out of the front bumper from being hit with rock slalt/stones over the winter. Planed on touching them up after I got it back from dealer but really no point now.

Kind of got in an argument with the service manager because he said it was that way when I dropped it off. Nothing disrespectful, jsut reminded him that his own employees said it looked like I just drove it out of the showroom. He also said that the "wash boys" said there were no do not wash signs anywhere. They were there when I dropped it off, they threw them away, no other explination. I also noticed on the right rear above the exhaust pipe the truck is marred. Just so happens that they parked it next to a cement pillar and whoever parked it must have brushed up against the pillar the first time they tried to park. My black paint was on the cement, also pointed this out to service manager, he had no comment.

Got the GM survey in the mail and expressed my opinion, was honest, and made sure they knew there was a problem. I have been contacted by GM customer service about this issue 3 times now and they are being nothing but helpful. Problem is, the service manager is a liar. He has been telling GM that he has been attempting to contact me and is unable to do so, he never called or emailed one time. I informaed the GM Rep. on the phone of this and even offered a copy of my phone bills to check all calls.

Spoke with her again today (third time) and she said that dealership told them they are willing to correct their mistake but could not get in touch with me to do so. Thing is, they never called or did anything they are telling GM they did. This is the service manager lying. The GM rep. told me she is going to turn this over to an area/regional rep. (don't remember which one she said) but she promised the problem will be solved.

Not really sure how they plan on resolving this issue, nothing short of a new paint job will make me happy at this point. I honestly don't even want my truck anymore because of the way it looks. I tried to correct it on my own but it's that bad I can't do it. The scratches are that deep they are going to need sanded out, and not just in one place, it's the entire painted area of the truck. Seems they used dirty rags with possibly rocks in them to do the "washing".

I went to a local body shop and let them have a look today before work. They said in all honesty, it would not be fixed correctly UNLESS the entire truck was painted. .......I don't even know what to do but I can't afford to pay out of pocket right now to have my truck painted.

When the other Rep. calls, I am very curious to how he or she is going to go about having this fixed. When they see it, they are going to know there is no way to buff these scratches/swirls out of the paint.

I am asking for to much for the truck to be painted? Anyhone else have an issue like this before?

Hell no thats not asking too much! I would be shaking furious, fists clenched, if my truck came back looking scratched to hell. They should hopefully pay for a new paint job.

If they wont make good voluntarily, get two estimates from reputable body shops and sue them in small claims court.

I would insist on getting it painted at a place of YOUR choosing, not back at the same dealer as you will likely get a bad attitude from everyone there.

I know a lady who went around and around with a Chevy dealer over paint damage to her 'burban. She says she will never own a GM vehicle ever again because of the trouble they gave her.

I'd push for the respray. Factory paint on these trucks is pathetic at best, and you'd be better off getting it painted again anyways.

Mine looks like I chased deer through the brush, and it's hardly ever left the garage. :(

If I look at it funny, I can see another scratch./swirl forming. :)

This sort of thing is the exact reason that I keep my dashcam rolling while my truck gets serviced. If something ever happens, I'll have video of what occurred while it was at the dealership. Of course, I'd have to talk to a lawyer first to determine if my video is even legal before I could use it in court to get any damages fixed, but I would know for certain what happened.

(I know this post didn't help, but I'm trying to get my point across about the importance of dash cams.)

Holy defunkel! My paint job is shot (my fault) and I STILL would be pissed off if I found my truck's paint left in that condition. I'd have a problem if you DIDN'T ask them to paint your truck. Ridiculus...and a few other choice words and phrases....

I'd be mad too, I'd get em to pay for new paint where you choose, and then find a new dealer. Any pictures of the damage?

The only picture I took so far was of the gouge above the tail pipe where one of their people brushed it against a concrete post.

The rest of the truck is a giant swirl, with deep swirl and scratches. It actually makes me sick to even look at it. It's been parked in the garage since I got it back...Not using it until it's fixed.

Also forgot to add in my original post that there are now two nice sized dents in the tailgate.

After my next call from GM, I'll keep this updated. Believe it or not they really do seem concerned and helpful...so far.

Check the contact number they have....it's an old dealer trick to miss by one number so the ones that are not satisfied never get surveyed. Is it possible to wet sand the truck and buff ???

I got the survey and filled it out, that's why GM contacted me.

About the wet sanding, had it at a body shop and they said that a repaint would be best. There is no reason to sand the truck and have uneven paint. It wasn't uneven when I dropped it off, it was perfect (except for a few chips in painted bumper from winter use). This truck is garage kept and doesn't get used much. This may sound silly but I don't even drive it in the rain, it only saw rain one time because I was driving home when it started raining. Only time I use it is when I can't use my car (snow, ice, towing). I did the best I could with the PC but I refuse to sand it....No way it's getting just sanded, needs to be repainted to be in the condition it was when they got it.

If I didn't pay cash for the truck, I would stop making payments and let the finance company come and get it, that's how disgusted I am over this.

I am at the point that I am ready to drive it right through their showroom window!
