Rear Diff Capacity?

I just got done changing the rear diff fluid in my 08 Silverado 4x4 w/ the G80. My owners manual said to to fill between .04 and .75" of the fill plug. So figured that I would go roughly in the middle and filled it to about 3/8 - 1/2 from the plug. I did the trick with an allen wrench and put a small piece of tape on it as a marker and filled the diff. The diff took right at 2 quarts. Does this sound about right? I also used a gasket I picked up from the dealer and a small bead around the outside edge of the gasket just in case. I used Mobil 75w-90 synthetic.

Does it sound like I did everything right? I feel like I did but I just want to double check. No harm in that right?

Sounds like you did everything the way I do it for that job!!

2 quarts sounds right also (Mine actually takes a little more being a 9.5" axle)

sounds right to me.

Oops, 3months ago i did my rear end. I filled it up until the oil started coming out, then waited untill the oil stopped coming out and installed the plug. So far no problems.

According to my eSi service manual they say the 8.6" G80 rear-end takes 2.15 quarts of Synthetic SAE 75W-90.
