True Truck Or Pure Luxury

Which interior do you prefer?

I always I liked upscaleness of the Pure Luxury interior better, I drove a truck with it and I thought I had to take my eyes off the road for too long just to turn on the AC. The whole radio and HVAC were a long ways down there.

Yesterday, I drove a truck with the Pure Pickup interior and although I would have preferred heated seats and a full center console (which you can get,) I felt like this interior was laid out a lot better, much more like my 2000 which I really like.

I've never been in a GMT900 with the "pure pickup interior", but I know what your talking about with the HVAC controls being down there and kind of small. After a while, I got familiar with the location of everything.

You bring us something that has bugged me with my current Silverado. My last one was a 2004 LS. It was pretty "plain Jane". The comfort controls were easily accessible... and controllable... without taking your eyes off the road. My current 2008 LT2 has the fancy comfort system. There are about a dozen buttons and individual controls for driver and/or passenger. It does take quite a bit more concentration to make more than minute adjustments... and can divert your attention from the road.

I have had very good luck with cloth seats. Don't want leather. My last two Silverados with cloth seats have worn well for over 150,000 miles.

The steering wheel controls for cruise and audio system on the current LT2 are really nice. Love the mute button I can easily hit with my thumb.

I spend a lot of time/miles in my Silverados. Enjoy the slightly upgraded LT2 vs the LS.

I love the LTZ/SLT interior. As said above, it does take a little getting used to, but now I don't really have to take my eyes off the road any more than any truck I have had. I know where it is by feel. Plus, I use Auto 99% of the time so the only thing I need to change is the temp setting, the HVAC does the rest.

That being said, I think GM has the two best interior options available in any truck. I absolutely hate the new ford interior. Toyota's is vomit. If I was going to get something other than a GM it would be a Dodge. This is the first time in history that I would put a dodge in front of a ford. Ford got it all wrong this year.

See, I think the exact opposite. I prefer the GMT800 style steering wheel controls since you could actually use the seek buttons for both up AND down channels. The 900 only gives you a button to scan up a channel, or choose a preset station. That REALLY bugs me.

I have the "luxury" dash in my truck and although the controls are farther down, like Robert mentioned most of the time you just leave it in auto mode. I only check what temp it is set at when I start the truck.

Actually, I will go as far as stating that the auto system is actually better for keeping your eyes on the road. With my old 05' Silvy with manual HVAC controls, I spent a good amount of time doing winter highway driving to and from my jobsite 4 hours from where I live (temporary pipeline job). Over the course of the 4 hour trip, there would be some decent daylight/weather/temp changes. I would have to keep adjusting the fan speed and temp slider to keep a constant temp in the cab. Naturally I would look away from the road for a short time to see what I was adjusting. With the new system, it's more of a "set it and forget it" control.

I have the pure pickup interior in my truck(LT2) with the console, and the pure luxury in my wife's tahoe. i prefer the pure pickup interior, mostly because I like not haveing the cup holders like they are in the LTZ. by that i mean i moved my cup holder to the forward position; you can do this with the LTZ also, but if your drink sloshes it will it get on your radio, much less it blocks the view. also i like having the storage where the radio and hvac sits. i also like the pockets in my doors in the back vs. the LTZ that has none. the view is easier in the LTZ vs the pure pickup. i also prefer the door handle in the interior of my pure pickup. it is truely a shame that to get some of the features I have now in my LT2 thats loaded, I will have to get an LTZ next time around to keep the same level of comfort. also the outside while we are on it... i like my chrome front bumper, what gives with painting the bumper, and only the front at that? I dont like the painted mirror tops either, i do like the brushed aluminum that my wife's tahoe has. i DO like the painted door handles though.

I prefer the luxury interior, but it wasn't in the budget. So, I went with the true truck interior.

I hear you there. I prefer my SLT, but If i had to buy new, could not afford it. Nothing wrong GM Optimum though... :)

I went the luxury route.

Having the "pure truck interior" like I have just means the HVAC controls are now up there and kind of small instead of down there and kind of small :)

I have the "Pure truck" interior and I really like the layout......its much better than my 2004 Sierra's interior. I like the under seat storage compartment, but feel bad for whoever has to sit on it because there isn't much padding to it. That being said, I like the fact the GM has the option for one to choose from. If I had more $$$ to spend, I probable would have gotten the All-Terrain package and I'm sure I would be perfectly happy with the "luxury" interior.
