New Window Tint Today

The 20% over the existing OEM (18%) tint seems to work out to roughly a 10% transmission, clearly not as opaque as a 5% standard limo tint.

The 30% seems about right, even though the job was finished just before sundown. OF course, the front window tint violates the California Vehicle Code.

Picture attached.

Looks good! :( It was the first thing I did when I got my truck. The rear windows were already done and I had the fronts done to match.

Nice truck color! Looks like your OEM tinted windows had already been overlaid with tint film. Is that true or just a feature of the evening shot in the pic?

Looks good. I really need to get mine done one of these days.

OK at this shop the winter time special cost only $150 out the door for all 5 windows... It isn't really expensive, but it sure makes a difference. It is getting to be something I do for every vehicle I own (the last 6 vehicles at least)

Looks great - 20 over 18 = 3.6%

It's just the evening light playing tricks on you a bit. It was just the best picture I have showing the window tint and it was after a day of waxing and detailing too.

When they matched the front tint to the OEM rear tint they used a 20% tint that had a slight silver/grey tinge to it. It worked quite well and it is almost a perfect match.

I had mine done as well. Not the best picture --- matter of fact you can still see the bubbles as the picture was taken right afterwards...

The bubbles disappeared as promised within a week or two. Looks perfect now.

I told the shop to match the EC windows. Don't remember the percent or anything like that.

I think it looks good. Have had many compliments on it. I like it in the summer. It does help keep the interior a little cooler when parked in the sun, and helps the AC cool better, IMO...

For everyone that has their front windows tinted do you have any more difficulty backing up at night and having plenty of visibility through the mirrors? Seems like the already limited amount of lighting will be worse.

I didn't on my last truck :flag:

I always tinted my front sides and really it depends on how dark you go. I always ran 20% light transmission and never had any trouble backing up or seeing out the side windows in the dark. Different tint manufacturers change things too. My 20% appears darker from the outside than it really is..... But others look much lighter from the outside with the same apperance when looking out from within the vehicle.

I always tint mine for cutting the lights of other drivers in the side mirrors and then of course the looks. However the police up here have little to do and tint is a favorite of theirs to prey on. If I could come across a spray on tint ( such as a friend had) they can do nothing as they technically cannot find a film applied to the glass( that's all the law talks about.... I know it very well). Until then however, citing my new trucks have power folding side mirrors, I am going to leave my fronts tintless and avoid the hassle.
