5.3 rcsb....how well would it pull a tandem axle low boy car trailer with a jeep wrangler on it. Considering a new toy to do some offroading :uhoh: Most trips will be about 4-6 hrs away

No reason you can't do that successfully. I've pulled many things with RCSB trucks over the years. Just don't go over your tow ratings and make sure you have good trailer brakes (as you would using any other truck) and you should be fine.

I use to do that with a 96 f150 4wd rcsb...... 83 CJ5 on the trailer.... Only thing I will say goose-neck trailer.... Will make your traveling long distances nice and pleasant.. But I pulled bumper pull in the '96 f150.

What kind of wheeln are you going to be doing with the jeep??

Yep...several times already...once with a '67 panel truck on it....pulled ok although I will say that panel truck was a bit more than I'd normally want on the trailer with a shortbed. You should be more than comfortable with a Wrangler on it.

i'd recommend trailer brakes for sure, i see ecsb pull way way more weight then that...don't forget tow mode lol

Truly sad sight for me but this pulled my jeep on a 18ft tandem axle trailer....... That picture was 3 weeks after Katerina... Notice the timber down in the background.... I lost mounds of timber from small tornado's during the hurricane. Month later I got the 01 Chevy 2500 4x4 to replace the F150 as tow master.... I probably put 3,000+ miles with the jeep on the trailer behind that truck.

I pulled a 29' eliminator boat for my buddy a few times. He is a dealer up here and needed an extra hand moving some from shows. I had a 2000 RCSB and as long as the trailer brakes worked she took it down the road. Sure looked funny as hell though.

Mint, 2000 RCSB 4X4, 5.3, 4.10 gears, Cold air intake, headers and Flowmasters, only 45,000 miles on her. After eight, 500 mile trips across the Rocky mountains and the Great Divide hauling an 7,000 lb GVW, 18 foot car hauler with my car collection, my 4L60E transmission was toast. This was with the factory heavy duty trailering package with tranny cooler etc. and in tow/haul mode all the way.

You will be fine with trailer brakes, and maybe a good WD hitch. The thing about towing something that long with a reg cab is your short wheel base, you are not towing somthing with a big side profile so it will be fine. If you do ever tow something that is really going to catch a cross wind you might consider and longer wheel base to keep things steady.

In Indiana we have hapsin acres and the badlands offraod parks.....haspin is muddy wooded trail riding and the badlands is an old 700+ acre gravel pit so its kinda like sand dunes, but also has trails and rocks.

Thanks for the replies again..... Most likely I'll get into atvs again b4 jeeps, mainly cause I used to ride alot and seems like finding places to ride atvs is much easier than jeeps. Buddy from west Virginia said hes buying a new quad and wants me to come down so that might convince me to get another quad. Hatfield McCoy trails are amazing.
