I have Nitto Terra Grapplers and like them alot. I run them as my winter tire. Great in the snow and not that expensive.

I have tried 3 sets of Goodyear's over the years........

1979 Hurst/Olds I rarely drive the car....... I put about 8k on the tires and they were wore OUT......

1995 Ford F150 4x4 heavy suspension. Wranglers..... Quite loud...... You had to crank the radio quite well.... they were 60k tires... I got about 20k...

2004 Crown Vic (Mom's car). here goes.... I bought them drove home at that time that was a 30 mile drive one way. About 10 miles into the drive home I COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL of the car bumped off a bridge in a curve (something that you usually just feel it is a pretty good bump on that bridge).... I manage to keep all the sheet metal shinny side up and scratch/dent-less some how...... The next day the tire store was open was Monday and that was a Friday. I was planning on going on vacation Wednesday...... I pulled back in at the tire store on Monday.... Walked in told the guy the problem he stated and asked him to drive the car. He stated "sounds like air pressure" and did not drive it..... I ended up going on vacation that year in a car that was unpredictable it was loose as A GOOOSE.. Took it back when I got back into town the 2nd week after I had the tires..... Again asked him to drive it.... He again changed the air pressure and would not drive it again..... Another week later I drove it back in..... 3rd TIME NOW....... Asked him to drive it again he said ok.. Left it all day I wrote down the mileage..... Went back that afternoon (left it at 7am and picked it up at 4:30pm).... Same mileage on the clock..... I drive away came back in 5 minutes walked in and asked him to change the tires...... It was I told him something is wrong with the tire(s)..... One of them is bad or a couple of them..... I had bought the MOST EXPENSIVE TIRE THEY HAD.... It was a triple something assurance tread.... about 150 each mounted and balanced. He told me it was going to be another 60 bucks per tire to warranty them. I said NEVER AGAIN.... Walked out..... Pissed to say the least..... Drove the car another 6 months like that..... Tires never got tighter..... One Saturday I dropped of my mom and other half at the mall went to a DIFFERENT tire store in the town next to me.... I knew the guy that owns it..... Told him what it was doing he said its a bad tire probably a belt... He drove the car came back and said I think it is XXX one.... I said change it if you think it is it.... Worst case I end up buying 4 instead of 2... He changed it..... Drove it came back and said hmmm that fixed it.... I told him to put me one on the other side of it...... Drove it a year.... That did fix it the first one he changed had A BROKE BELT (i found out next time i saw him)..... The first 2 tires were completely wore out and the 2 new ones were less than 50% (year and 6 mo).... I put a set of Generals on it (they have been on it for 2 years)...... They are still on the car with plenty of life left...

As FOR ME NO MORE GOODYEARS... BFG, General, or Continental... My first set of BFG's got 70k on them before I changed them (they dry rotted in the treads) I probably could have got another 15k out of them. I just put a second set on.... NO way these are going to last as long unless they get hard all of the sudden... But they are nice comfy riding and quite..... And plenty Tacky...

my Toyo open country AT's have been suprisingly impressive tires... they dont have much wear after about 27k and weekly burnouts and they are not bad offroad for street tires..

I might add if my tires spin..... The pavement is WET........ Tires are quite expensive.... As are transmissions...

I may drive like I stole it but maybe a chirp in between gears....

i ususally only burnout on grass gravel or dirt or wet roads... i dont abuse my truck that badly.. its the only truck that can hold up to my abuse

Another vote or the Nitto Terra Grapplers. However, I haven't had them long enough to comment on tire wear. But the ride is fine and I really like the look. Aggressive enough, but still road worthy!

You could look at Cooper Discoverer S/T. I think I'm going to head the mud tire route but if I was going all terrain route I would definitely be going with the Cooper.

(Picture don't really do them justice they look really good in person)

I have the Cooper Discoverer S/T in 265/70/17. They are a good tire. They performed good in the mud, snow, and hold up good on the gravel. They have a little noise on the highway but not to bad. I have about 10,000 miles on them and still look new.

I have Nitto Trail Grapplers in 295/70R 17 (E rated). They have a little highway noise, not much different than the BFT A/T's. They look GREAT in person. There is a little sway/flex when you "fishtail" the steering wheel (compared to Duravis 265/70/17's that were very worn. I may run a little more pressure in them. They will clear with a tie-wrap mod and cranking the t-bars. I have only put about 75 miles on them, but I like so far.

TOYO OPEN COUNTRY AT ... you will not be dissappointed!!!!

I bought mine 2 years ago and still very happy with them....

I would recommend getting the Load Range D (8-ply rating) .. a very stable tire when hauling loads or pulling a trailer

you can back off the tire pressure when running unloaded to soften the ride a little...
