$5.00 A Gallon

Recommended Posts

I saw on the news today that if we keep going at the rate we are going using gas and the prices keep going up like they are projected to from more demand and less supply...we could be looking at $5.00 a gallon by the end of 2012. That being said, what would you all do about your trucks? Just currious. I will literaly be looking for a new truck then...so it just makes me wonder what I'd be able to afford at that point. Might have to say goodbye to the dreams of a 2500HD 6.0...

same thing I said in the other 20 some odd gas related threads I'll never give up driving a truck. No reason for me to stop driving something I enjoy driving and feel completely safe in. Not worth it to give that up to save a few hundred bucks a month  If gas goes up that just means that trucks will be cheaper to buy when it gets that high. Sometime around the end of 2013 early '14 I'll be looking to replace my 2006.

I just paid 1.21 a litre for 89 octane, that is $5.50 a gallon (imp gallon) and it is still 2010.

I won't be doing anything about my truck. I will, however, be voting against the socialist democrats who are salivating at the possibility of $5 a gallon gasoline. The democrats do not seek energy independence for this country, but dependence on the government for all things; because when the populace is entirely dependent of the government then it can control every aspect of our lives. Imposing policies that destroy the free market, destroy individual rights and drive energy prices through the roof are only a means to an end.

all those projections and speculations are a load of crap. oil use in this country has been on the decline each year since 2006. there are many things that we can do to get off foreign oil, but it will never happen, for various reasons- some touched on in AwriterUSMC' post.

but more on topic, 5 bucks doesnt scare me- i'll have my camaro by then

I told myself post 9/11 that I would dump the truck if it got up and stayed close to $3 a gallon. Sold the truck in 2003 for a gas sipping car. In 2004, let the wife drive the car and traded her car in on a truck. Since that time I have went from a 4.8 to a 5.3 and finally to a 6.0. I will never be without a truck again. Even with my 2500HD's lack of mileage, I still drive it everywhere. I can afford $5 a gallon, but not sure Id be willing to pay it. If it ever gets there and stays there, I'll go get some old beater 4 cyl for my short trips.

it will be a long time before gas goes high to the point that people cant afford it...if nobody drives the world stops essentially...if prices go too high the federal reserve of fuel will open up..gas is 3.07 here atm which i'm not happy about but i love my truck too much to get a glorified go-kart

I just filled up this morning for $3.29. Two weeks ago, I was filling up for $2.79. I hope all those greedy bastards bought their kids something extra nice for Christmas!

The problem with the statement about $5.00 is that seemingly every time some analyst talks speculates about a price spike it seems as if they are prepping the public for what they want you to pay........I remember it happening with $3.50 gas then $4.00. I really believe it's a ploy to ease the public into the mindset so they can start the raping and pillaging!!!!
