I have a 2007 Silverado classic with a 4300 Vortec and for some reason the engine hours are at 3 hours and the truck has 31K miles on it. Why did the hours reset itself or does it rollover? Last time I check it was around 1000+ hours

My 05 HD truck at work just reset for the 4th time. 81.7 hrs for 144235 miles.

My 06 just reset about a month ago. I'm not very happy about it, but as far as I know there is nothing I can do about it.. Pretty crappy if you ask me.

2003-2007 GMC Sierra ClassicSome owners may comment of the ipc engine hour meter resetting. This concern may be very intermittent and normally occurs at key up and/or start up.

GM Engineering is aware of this concern and working on a correction. At this time there has been varying success repairing this concern with the following information:

Check the battery/s with the Midtronic's battery tester and also perform a load test using a Vat40 or similar load tester to make sure the battery/s are in good condition. We have found in some cases a weak battery could cause this concern, this step is very important on vehicles with the 6.6L Diesel Engine where both batteries are used for cranking the engine.
Check the battery cables and make sure all connections are clean and tight.
Check the IPC powers and grounds (G200, G203, G100, G110 and the braided ground strap between the engine and cowl G104 and G107) connections and make sure they are clean and tight.

If the IPC has not been replaced, replace the IPC.

Interesting, I just noticed mine this morning did, I guess 16 hours ago at around 75K miles, gotta love this forum for finding quick answers!!! When you take your truck to a GM dealer for an oil change, do they check your flash files to see if you have the latest and greatest version?

Yup, my '06 does it too. I was scrolling through the options on my "menu" a few months ago and noted the hours were in the single digits. Yet back in the end of '09 I was in the four digit range. I have no idea how many times it may have reset since it's not something I routinely monitor on my truck. By chance is the "total" stored somewhere in the computer on the GMT800's or are we all just out of luck?
