I like the new look of the rams with a leveling kit on them. They look pretty bad ass i think

4.8's are very underpowered IMO Its a townie truck. A larger motor would most likely get better gas mileage the 4.8 works too hard to move the tires.

Thats my only regret with this truck...is not getting the larger engine. But going from a chipped 5.9 CTD to a wee 4.8 is a kick in the butt lol

I have to remind myself why I sold my dream truck. No big truck payment anymore...cheaper mileage and a fully functioning transmission lol

The Sierra looks nice and does its job for me. Also the ride in GMC/Chev is unmatched in any fullsize pickup, thats a fact. So for getting groceries and hauling kids around, its perfect. I can't imagine pulling even a teeny trailer with it though. Im curious to see how it is with our quads in the back. All it has to do, is last me 2yrs...and back to my big rig Dodge.

Not sure what gear ratio you have but it probably tows better than you'd expect. Sounds like you're just you to a bigger diesel. My old truck has a 4.3 v6/4spd/3.42. It actually tows my 3,000 pound trailer pretty good.

Its only 3:42 I believe. I don't plan on towing anything anyway. But glad to know you find it ok. And yes, I am used to a big diesel. Im spoiled really. Last car I owned was 5.0 so...not used to anything without power.

But I find off the line its wah wah. I did change the tires and rims but it was the same prior to that. It seems to rev really easily but no power behind it.

Not complaining about the truck though. It is perfect for what I need it for right now. And its sooo smooth. My dodge never rode that nice...even before I put the lift and after when I tried to soften it up with Bilsteins.

I find it very hard to believe the 6.2 GM trucks can touch 20 mpg considering I haven't come close to that in my 4.8.

I regulraly pull down 18+ mpg (usually around 18.6-18.7 if you want specifics) with my 6.2 running 75 mph down the e-way with the a/c on. While I knew that I wasn't buying the 6.2 for fuel economy I have to say that I've been pleasently surprised at what it can pull down for fuel economy if I just keep my foot out of it. Even in town, beating the snot out of it, it still pulls down 14.5 mpg so I'm good.

As for the Ram, congrats on the new truck. I am personally not a fan of the looks myself and while I keep trying to find things that I like about my friends '11 Ram Hemi Quad Cab, over what my truck offers, it just keeps falling short imo. He even admits it, here and there. The only thing he beat me on was price but his truck has way less options than mine so....

Again though, congrats on the new truck. Most all of us work hard and deserve to be proud of what we spend are hard earned money on, that's for sure.

i believe the 4.8 is available in crew cab WT and SL packages. my Sierra was about as slow as you can get in the GM truck lineup, but it was fine for me as a daily driver.

As for the Ram, congrats on the new truck. I am personally not a fan of the looks myself and while I keep trying to find things that I like about my friends '11 Ram Hemi Quad Cab, over what my truck offers, it just keeps falling short imo. He even admits it, here and there. The only thing he beat me on was price but his truck has way less options than mine so....

as far as available options, all of the major truck manufactures come out just about even. they all offer way more than we need. i mean, i can control my radio through voice commands for crying out loud . looks are subjective but i personally find the Ram 1500, Silverado/Sierra 1500, and F-150 all to be damn good looking trucks. only the Tundra and Titan (to a lesser degree) are semi-ugly trucks in my opinion.

Again though, congrats on the new truck. Most all of us work hard and deserve to be proud of what we spend are hard earned money on, that's for sure.

The diesels were awesome but then I didn't need a 3/4 ton anymore and went to a half ton. My hemi was only getting 12 mpg so sold that to a buddy and bought my silverado. I love the silverado but dodge was way ahead in the motor department, just lacking in about everything else. However it looks like the new rams have updated everything so it's probably a different ball game now. The thing I missed the most about the rams is that when you drive them you feel like you're in a real truck, the silvy feels like a 4 door car with 4 wheel drive. Drives me nuts that a factory 4x4 isn't even tall enough not to scrape a parking curb.

i agree, my Sierra sat very low in the front and i always worried of scraping it on parking curbs. the Ram sits higher, but still pretty low itself:

That's a good side by side comparison photo. Ya, it looks like the new body rams are getting a little lower more like the fords and chevys. All my rams were 07's when they sat up pretty good for a factory truck ( you could run 285's with out a leveling kit) and the 2500's would run 35's with a 2". I'd like to take a new ram for a spin, i'd imagine that they are riding alot better now especially with rear coils.

I had an 07 2500 CTD and the day it left the dealer I had my 35in Baja Claws put on the stock rims. They fit bone stock no rubbing at all.

some updated pics (for those of you that care to look at other trucks ). front windows have been tinted to match the rear and i've added a 1.5" Top Gun Customz leveling kit. i'm happy with it, it's subtle and doesn't show any ass-dragging or 'cali lean'. tires are next on the list!

Looks pretty sharp! Does the factory dual exhaust have any real bark to it? I've driven by a few new Rams with the setup and it sounded pretty mild. Just an excuse to buy something louder, right?

thanks MikeNH! the exhaust note is pretty throaty but not overly loud, which i like. the dual exhaust with rear bumper cut-outs is one of the options i wish did NOT come equipped on my truck. it's a little 'boy-racer' in my eyes, but since owning the truck i've grown to become indifferent on it.

jesus i didn't notice that. just went out and checked them...the dipshit alignment shop left both sides completely loose. thank you for pointing that out Matt, owe ya one.

edit: took it to a different shop about a quarter mile from my place, had them re-align and get it right. went back to the original shop (Meineke) and got a refund. i won't be going back there ever again. just goes to show you have to check people's work. thanks again for your eagle-eyes Matt.
