Swapping Enignes

just wonering what you need to do a enigne swap, from a 4.8-5.3 computers sensors etc, if anyone has done this before id be greatful for any info

What year truck and what year engine?

 

Pretty strait forward on the physical swap. Your PCM tune file will need a rewrite...fairly easy with HPTuners or EFILive.

There really isn't much to be gained by doing that unless you have a really high mileage or blown 4.8.

 

IMHO, (if the truck is running OK) you'd be far better off selling the truck and buying the truck that you want.

 

When you do an engine swap, some stuff will be inaccurate on your RPO sticker. Selling the truck or just ordering new parts may be an issue.

 

If you get an engine from a junk-yard, be sure to take a picture of the RPO tag on the truck that it is coming out of. It's easy to do and you may kick yourself later if you don't do it and need parts.

what he said, If you were going to do it, why not a 6.0. The 4.8 to 5.3 isnt really worth the trouble.
