Gm's Rebutall For The Eco-boost

I've been watching the You-Tube Videos of Ford's new Ecoboost. It's quite the marketing scheme. However, that ecoboost really beats up on the 5.3...any ideas what GM has in mind to compete with this motor? Also, when are we going to get the option of a 6.5ft box in the half ton crew cabs? Come on GM, hear your people! :)

I'll begin to think about comparing them when I see EB's w/ 300k miles and only oil/filter/plug changes. The new Ford 3.7 V6 and 5.0 V8 have better hope of doing that. Both of those are impressive naturally aspirated motors, but who will want to buy a dual turbo gas truck with 100k miles on it?

my friends 6.2 crew cab 4x4 smoked a ext cab 4x2 ecoboost over and over! So u can go off vids made by ford. i raced him to in my 5.3 z71 4x4 ext cab and if i had a tune and didnt have the torq management stuff i think i would run dead even with him. he pulled me off the line. he got a truck out and never pulled stayed dead even till cutoff. i was at his bumper!

Yeah because our trucks are known to run 300k with just basic maintenance...

I've got a tune and ca intake and though we didn't line up we did race and he was pullin, may be cause I have the four speed but that thing will go! Hopefully when I get my new exhaust, headers, gears, and cam swap, ill let him eat my dust lol.

Your 5.3 has less power then the 2010. Plus with of 6speed the 3.42s are more like 4.56s in first 3 gears. My sticker shows 330hp 5.3 all I have is 3" dynomax vt and factory replacement k&n. Eb f150 are raited at 360hp

Whats with all the HP talk?

You know the 6.7L CTD is only rated at 350 HP right? I guess all that (available) torque means nothing

We can't say how long any one engine will run, but I can say that I've seen 5.3's in the 200 to 300k mile range with just routine maintenance. I'd be surprised if you could rebuild an EB (w/ new turbos) for the price of a brand new, crate 5.3 after warranty. A guy I met a couple years back when shopping campers had bought a new 2007 Tundra 5.7. The motor had to be replaced, to the tune of $10k (warranty). You could almost replace the entire 5.3 drive-train for that much. I'd be curious to know the repair/replace cost on the EB setup.

I can say that my stock 6.2 NHT truck has smoked several Ecoboost F150s around here.

I have multiple Dashhawk 0-60 times in the mid 5 second range....( 5.6, 5.7, 5.5)

So I think the rebuttal for the ecoboost is the NHT 6.2 package (3.73 gears are a big help)

Everytime i see one in town i want to run with it, I know my truck isn't stock but it will still put a smile on my face!

Your removed your resinator? Did it make a difference and how is the sound? My 19 year old step son wants me to remove mine but afraid of it being too loud. I have a K&N CAI and BB tune...
