I finally got around to switching my truck to mobil 1. I just hope that it dosent start to leak anywhere it the truck being 11 years old. But if it does then guess i will fix it. Plan on changing it in 3k to get the reg mobil oil flushed out the change every 4 or 5k.

I change mine every 20k, its on its 7th oil change. Doesn't burn a drop, or leak at 110k.

Mobil 1 one is beautiful.

Changing it that often is a waste of $ as long as you use an oil filter designed for synthetic oil.

I'd suggest letting the next oil change stay in there for ~9K then do an oil analysis. That's what I did. The oil analysis will give you a lot of info about your engine and it will give you the life of the oil that you send them. After 9K miles, mine came back just past half life and I tow with my truck (probably 90% of the time). The oil analysis is about the same cost as a synthetic oil change.

I will pass on the 9k and do a analysis at 5k. I doubt i will even let it get to 5k before i change it.

Old habits die hard.... :)

My guess is that you may change your mind after you get the analysis back.

A friend of mine is an Amzoil dealer. He gets it done for me.

I think that I might try http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free-test-kits.php next time.
