Possible problem with my shocks?

Lately I have noticed some jerking while braking. The first thing that came to mind was that I might have a warped brake rotor, but it doesn't happen every time I brake. If it was a rotor it would do it all the time, right? Could this also be caused by the shocks possibly say going over a bump while braking? This really bothers me and I don't want to replace both the shocks and a brake rotor if I don't have to.

A fast pulsation in the brake pedal sometimes along with a shaking steering wheel will indicate bad front brakes. The pulsation would slow as the the vehicle does. Doesn't sound like a suspension problem to me. Stock GM rotors are not the best either and known for warping. The shaking might not always be the same depending on how hot the rotors are at the time and you would need to replace both front, never just do one side or you'll have more probs.
