soooooo as much as i know about my truck i find myself dumb in some areas and ill admit im not an expert. i recently started towing frequently. i got a cluster from a 6.0 truck installed and my trans temp was creeping. it normally doesnt go above 175, but it edged above 200 today. is there an rpo for the trans cooler? if i dont have it, and i think i dont, what type of fittings go to the trans and which is out and which is in? Im looking at installing a B&M super cooler

Just look through the grill in front of the a/c condenser. If you have one you'll see it. It'll be about 6"x10"

If you don't have the cooler, which you might not (especially with the 4.8), here is the part number for the OEM transmission oil cooler kit from GM Accessories. This is the one that comes installed in the truck from the factory. I installed one in my truck in 2005. It's like 90 bucks and includes all of the lines, cooler, and everything. When you're done it looks like it came like that from the factory. It takes a couple of hours to install, but it's worth it.

Here's the part number:

IMO a trans cooler is a must for towing, especially in warmer weather. Order it and get it installed, it will be worth it to know that yo uare not burning your transmission when you are pulling or hauling a load.

well i am set on the b&m super cooler. i just need to know the fitting sizes and which is which

The fitting sizes are standard GM. If you get the kit for GM you shouldn't have a problem. It's the standard clip/push in arrangement.

what do you mean standard gm? i want to run an adapter to a -6 an and stainless braided line

You should have a problem, any reputable shop or manufacturer should have adapters to fit the radiator or gm vehicles. It's a push-in connector that is a standard size across the truck lines.

the B&M cooler comes with the appropriate fittings and a length of hose to install it. You will simply disconnect one line at the radiator and use the fittings supplied. Mount the transmission cooler in front of the a/c condenser. I installed one on my 2003 Silverado, real simple.

Yes..... Your radiator has an internal transmission cooler and the trans fluid flows through the cooler. The trans cooler is cooled by the coolant in your radiator.

The external cooler is an "Auxilliary" cooler.

Here is a pic of the installation of the B&M Super Cooler on my truck:

Have you checked to see if you have one? I had a bare bones 4.8 RCSB 2003 and even it had a trans cooler.
