What did you do with your truck/shop today

Yeah, the '69 Camaro is, and has always been my favorite car. Only year they made that exact body style. Last Friday afternoon I saw a cherry Z28, black on orange.

 

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, revs me up like a '69 Camaro in any configuration.

There is a beautiful 69 RS in southern OK....but someone put Z/28 badges all over it. Never understood that. The one I had was an RS, but someone put SS badges on it. Trim tag said 2.73 rear end, it had a 10 bolt, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't an SS .

Got my trans filter changed, now the only overdue maintenance is my coolant & thermostat change.

I'm afraid to look at buying one right now. That is going to have to wait until I'm retired, and living in a more arid climate. If a guy only knew what these things were going to go for. I know a guy that has 2 '69 Camaros, and another guy that has 2 '70 Chevelle SS's.

 

 

They had a lot of variations and combinations of Camaro packages back then Sport Coupe, RS, SS, Z28, RS/SS, RS/Z28, COPO's, Yenko. 13 different motor choices, hardtop, vinyl top, ragtop.

 

I have to quit talking about these, before I do something expensive.

Yup, no X code on the trim tag at all, (side note: X11 doesn't mean it is an SS, FYI, something that seems to trick a lot of people), it had the RS code. I had the earliest one known to a Camaro Registry guy I asked. Production number 6--, it was rare for a 10 bolt to be on an SS, but I heard it was possible if optioned a certain way. It had the RS code, the dealer I bought it from said it could only be confirmed as an RS. Its 2.73 rear end was never put in an SS as far as I could tell. So odds are very slim it was an SS.

 

I have the Camaro ID book from Cars and Parts, The Complete Book of Camaro, and The standard catalog of Camaro. Three very different types of books, but if you buy them all there is very little info you can't find in one if them. Not sure if they ever updated the ID book past 93

Did some indoor work today. My brother's laptop died so I had to replace the hard drive. While doing that I alao "upgraded" it to Windows 8 Pro and wemt from 4 GB of RAM to 8 GB.

I let my truck sit all day since its her only day off (mine as well for that matter).

 

And she has been running great even with the crazy heat and a/c running at all time, I'm very proud of her. I'm knocking on wood that she stays this way especially because I have a road trip that will be around 1500 miles round trip in mid July. And possibly a run up to the Grand Canyon in a few days!

 

I might be pushing the oil to 6k miles but the two trips will be 95% highway so thats an easy easy end to this oils life.

Starting to look at new tires for the truck. Not sure if I should just get 37's for my current 17's or spend about another 2k for 20" wheels and 37's. Not sure how much more money should go into the truck but I don't wanna make the wrong decision on tires. This next set will probably make it a weekender/ hunting truck so maybe I should just keep my current 17's and save some money.

Oh no. It won't get out of my head. What "I want to do with my truck" is rent a car trailer and go and get that Camaro I found. I figure I could get there and back in 7 hours with meals.

 

But I have a problem. See, a few months ago I did something while in my "right mind." I told my wife to not let me do anything that would cause any form of debt, because once the mortgage was gone I might not be able to stand saving up for the next car(which was going to be something special). The plan was a ZL1 vert, and they aren't going up in price anytime soon.

 

But isn't a numbers matching "very good" and paint/trim correct 69 Camaro SS one of the exceptions to that rule?

 

(I'm continuing my obsession here because it came up in this thead, and my Tahoe will be towing it home)

 

So basically I have seiged my wife's senses with 1st Gen Camaro photo for nearly two days now.

22s an 37s is not a bright idea if your using it for a hunting truck haha. Stick with your 17s and get a good set of 37s an call it a day

Well, Tahoe won't be towing anything any time soon. Someone is buying that car, which I found out 1 hour after my wife agreed on it.
