This is NOT a joke.

The shop I took the springs to, their spring compressor cant grip with mine on. Mechanic doesnt have an impact wrench that can loosen the compressor nut I tightened with a breaker bar. They need me to go there and loosen it for them, because they dont know how to get them off.

I have free reign to tell them they are morons, right? Have you EVER heard of a shop calling a customer to say they need the customers to physically help them to do THEIR job?

Finished up repairing my drivers seat. Welded the frame in two places where it broke. Good as new! Also pulled the passenger seat and the center console in order to clean underneath real good.

Also chopped off the exhaust cause it was rotted through in some places and welds broke in others. I like the sound for right now until I need a state inspection then I'll do a 3" single in/ 3" single out and dump it over the rear axle for it to pass inspection. Not sure of which muffler to go with next, hmm...

I replaced the front pinion bearing&seal, front driveline u-joint and front brakes on my 85 GMC K1500. Oh and put new locking hubs on. I have to say the older trucks are almost a pleasure to work on. :)

I have gotten no further than yesterday. Yup, the only reason one is disassembled is because the lock nut broke the place when during their one and only try at doing anything.

(They told me they would be done by 4pm. They called at 4:05 PM to say they just started and didnt know what to do. Because of that I didnt have time to get it anywhere else.)

They stood inside and watched me and my dad disassemble the spring compressor. I told them I had tightened it by hand, so why couldnt they?

After that they tell me, "oh by the way the lock nut broke and we dont have any, you need to find us one". So i find one, get back 5 min to close and theybhave shut down. We are talking a 15 min job with tye right tools, they refused to do it after BEING THE REASON it took that long.

If I were you, I would go get my parts/truck back and run as far away from that place as possible. It's very obvious that the shop is full of clowns that don't know what they are doing and don't even have common tools, like an impact gun, unreal!!

Make sure you tell everyone you know to stay away from those jokers. That place sounds like most dealership service departments.

Would either of those clowns who were unable to do your springs and don't own an impact gun be a "certified GMTech" by chance? I only ask because it seems to be the type you find at a stealership paging through manuals trying to figure out how to mount a tire onto a wheel.

I am going to Hibdon tire now. Hope to be first in line this morning. The place yesterday was a tire/suspension type of shop. Theu said their impact wrench wouldn't turn it. Sounds like bad tools!

Read my last post for more info on what happened.

Hibdon can do it in two hours.......but will charge me $250. 1.6 hours labor plus $33 per strut.

I'm holding my nose and paying, don't have a choice. Called a dealer but they are lube only today.

$115 per hour ... YIKES.

I remember 15 years ago nearly falling over in disbelief that the bike shop that I had just got hired to in Glendale, AZ got $99/hr to work on boats. Now that's cheap by today's standards.

Considering upgrading my stereo. I did give it a bath and now the rain is coming in. :(

Love me new Pioneer. But it has feature overkill.

Alright. It's 1:40 in the morning. I picked up 10 storage bins from Lowes and I just finished loading up and tarping down the bed for a dump run in the morning. Yay garage purge! I think all that's left is to organize, and put stuff away in bins. Nearly everything that was in cardboard boxes have either been thrown away (in the truck bed), or stowed/will be stowed into bins. I have 5 racks coming in from amazon mid-week. I also gotta find some time to head to IPS for some metal so I can start fabbing up my work benches.
