GM is an odd company. Not unlike Harley-Davidson. They love mid-year, and cross-model changes. Can't keep up with all of it.

You'd think they'd want to give their techs a break, and just keep things familiar across every model. NOPE! Not in GM-land ...

Ford isn't any better. Certain new F-150s have manual parking brakes and others are electric and that appears to be a powertrain combo that dictates that, not trim. Also, the 8.8" rear axle is in some models. Haven't seen those in ages.

Yeah, they're no different. I think they do this on purpose to trip up backyard mechanics 20 years down the road. Who knows ...

I agree. Dad has had a few horror stories when he has worked on them for his cousin.

My grandfather and father were die-hard Ford guys for a long time. Grandfather was from birth till death. My dad switched to GM in the early 90's.

Yep - Ford was the master of "quirks", that's for sure. Some of their engineering defies logic.

Guy I went to automotive school with previously had a 4 cyl Ranger that needed a new exhaust from the muffler back. He bought it new. None of the parts the shop ordered fit properly and it turned out Ford had installed a V6 tailpipe on the truck, along with the different mounts/hangers.

WTF ... I'd have been livid!! What a cluster****. Figures, though. Not surprised at all.

I remember the 2000s mustangs that has three different plastic covers for the body depending on the trim(V6, GT, or cobra), and it was going around the internet one guy picked his up, got home, and realize the drivers side and passengers side trim didn't match. Guy couldn't decide to keep it as a one off or have them fix it. Edited by SnakeEyes

Did you really rotate the tires, or were your calipers just showing dirt.

Had 8K miles on the tires they needed rotating. Normally I don't rotate but I am going to try on the KO2s. Wanted to inspect the brake pads too
