Is that on your black 2002? And is that a normal differential or the g80?

And the tires look like continentals?

Sorry, this is on our 2016 Suburban and it has the G80 and good catch they are Continentals. Love'em.

Steps finally came in and got them installed today.

Average differential rebuild was $1,300 after calling many shops around the Phoenix area. And that's what I paid back in the spring or 2016 for my open 3.73.

And today I washed her during my lunch hour, she was relatively clean but it rained a lot lately so it was still needed. And she rolled into 244,000 miles today!

White1500 where are you in the valley, I have forgotten? I got some friends that have a shop in Tempe that might do your rear end, he's an old drag racing buddy of mine. His name in Bud's Automotive, I think the owners name is Bud Pickens, heck of a nice guy and a great drag racer. If he can't do it a guy in Chandler owns a machine/engine building shop may know of some one good, I'll check with him. :jester:

It's amazing how much cheaper everything is outside of Massachusetts.

I was just getting ready to post how amazed I was at how mint the ring and pinion looked for an '02!

2016 ... well that explains it! :D

I wonder if mine has the reusable gasket? When I changed it at 40k miles, I sucked the oil out through the fill hole, because I was going on a road trip the next day, and didn't want to wait for a gasket to show up. Truck was still pretty new then, and parts were hard to come by at times.

I used the Severe Gear 75w-110 since I tow heavy quite a bit. Plus, I've always got that pedal to the floor it seems ...

I'm in Scottsdale but I ended up going with A' s Tech service in Phoenix, they had competitive pricing (even after including the tow truck to the shop) and had done the transmission back in 2011.

They even remembered my truck 6 years and about 35k miles later! They're good people and I would definitely recommend them.

And after today's wash I found a nail in the right rear so I took her to Costco to get fixed this afternoon, luckily it hadn't actually punctured the tire, the nail was just stuck in the tread. 20 minutes later I was on my way!

Add another ~$500 for the TruTrac and I'll be happy if it stays under 2 grand. But should be able to get seals and bearings and all for that price. I don't want to do it again for a long time.

People never cease to amaze me!!! Had a call this afternoon from a guy asking if I could fix his dad's Colorado FOB. He said '' My dad said it worked fine until he drilled a hole through it to put his key ring because it had broke off'' LOL Well he had actually drilled through the board and even through the edge of the battery. I repaired the board, replaced the case buttons and battery and all's good.

LOL. It's the same over here - I never know what I'll see. Like this here home-built door latch, LOL!

It failed state inspection for this. Wonder why?
