Used Yukon

Looking at a used Yukon for my wife. I don't think that GM could have gone any cheaper on this one other than not putting carpet on the floor. But it's still a Yukon. It has 84,000 miles on it, with one owner. The only thing that concerns me is that it has the 4.8L. I don't have a clue about this engine or the reliability of it. Let me know please!

It's a good engine. Still a V8 like the 5.3 just a little smaller. I'd have no worries about it, unless you will be doing something you need extra HP for.

A while ago I drove a work van (2008 Express 1500) with the 4.8l.

I missed a little the push at low rpm but once the tach hits 2500 rpm he goes like a suppository.

Towing was a little PITA.

Otherwise I never had any problems. Very reliable.

If you don't need a hauler and just wanna get to work and for groceries it is a good engine.

I had a 4.8L (292ci) in an 04 Tahoe, very reliable engine had 108K when I traded it in. I did not tow with this vehicle. Just keep up the maintenance, and you will be fine.

the 4.8 is the same exact engine as the 5.3 just a little bit smaller. it dosent have as much balls as the 5.3, but still a decent engine.
