unions way to powerful . Cant even fire a guys that drinks and smokes pot on the job during his lunch brake. I am sure other workers felt safe around them with them intoxicated and drug ed up . Those guys get payed good money for working there and dont even care for the job they are doing or they know they cant be touched by management and so do what ever they want. If they are drinking and smoking pot during lunch beak think about how well they even do there job. They been off work for two years i bet they got payed the whole time to for doing nothing. What did those guys do for two years ? In professional work place if your caught drinking on the job your fired no questions ask but it looks like these guys most likely got payed for 2 years and got there jobs back .

Chrysler refused to comment on that issue in one report I read. Which probably means they did get paid

This is nothing new, it's been going on for years. It's not limited to the UAW either. I don't know the specifics of this incident but it's typical to get your job back, get back pay, and retain seniority.

Not just union shops either. Ive worked at two different non-union places where workers got caught smoking/doing drugs ON company property multiple times. They did not lose their jobs. One guy knocked down a bunch of wharehouse racking with a forklift due to being drunk on the job for umpteenth time. Got the umpteenth warning.

The difference was these guys were suspended and the UAW got their job back.

The UAW guyg only got their jobs back due to their union intimidation and scare tactics. It's very sad to see someone who cares nothing about the safety of the people around them while on the job. This put everyone at that plant in danger of injury or possibly death due to the altered state of mind the drugs put you in. They shouldn't only have been fired, but arrested as well.
