Extang blackmax SNAP tonneau cover

bought one off cragslist its 3 years old has all hardware ive got all the rails put together right but i cant get the cover to snap on both sides.. the part closest to the cab is snapped down and i can easily snap down the driver side (which i didnt do yet) but i cannot snap the passenger side or rear... is there a specific way to do this or am I just retarded...

I have the same cover on my truck, if it is really cold outside, the cover "shrinks" a bit. Luckily the little black plastic if snaps that are on the rails are meant to adjust. If you notice, they can flip up or down, they also have what looks like a T on them; flip them so that the snap is up closer to the top of the rail instead of down to the lower portion. Hope this makes sense, I would show pics but I don't have the truck with me at the moment.

What Carder said- the cold makes it rough. The snap one I had on my 2003 was an absolute bastard in the cold. Find a place where you can park it inside or in the least, bring the cover in your house for the night and then bring it out and hustle to get it on. I think I usually did front and back then the sides but it's been ages.

Check the bows that go across the bed too. If they are in the top notch the cover will be held up higher and it will be stretched tighter which will make it even harder to get snapped on a cold day.

You can also fill up a bucket with scolding hot water and throw on it if it's cold out. That will help A LOT!

thanks for the info guys i had the cover in front of the wood stove all night for that reason once i brought it outiside to snap i guess it didnt want to cooperate so i ended up doing this lmao

With my soft cover on my 99, I used to keep the front snapped and just roll it up. When putting it back on, I'd do the front corners, then down the sides, then finish with the rear. A little Vaseline on the snaps if they're metal can sometimes help the cause too.

With that cover, you might see a small increase in MPG's, I know when I take mine off, it seems as though my mpg's drop down 2.

If it starts to look a bit faded/ brownish tint, get the spray they make for it, works wonders!

I think it is advised not to use Armor All since it shrinks up the vinyl, I have never used it and I rather not find out either.

Use 303 Aerospace protectant. I believe that's what the shops tend to recommend for them.

I have the extang low profile cover with the Velcro sides. I emailed extang and explained the Velcro was not sticking well anymore, well they are sending me a brand new cover no charge.
