Made in Mexico?

I notice the VIN codes at my local dealer only sell Mexican made Silverados. That was one reason i stayed away from Dodge besides their "glass" transmissions. So now Ford is the only American made/American owned truck? I am dissappointed to say the least.

Some are some aren't. My 2012 was assembled in Fort Wayne, Indiana. But all of the brands parts mostly come from Mexico anyways. There's no getting away from it. It sucks.

Are you referring to the VIN ID: or sourcing parts from Mexico?

Saw a Avalanche the other day & the first digit was a 3.

Haven't looked it up in awhile, but was thinking

1=US

2=Canada

3=Mexico

Outside of that, all the domestics among others have all built mfg facilities down there.

My new 2500HD was born in Flint, Michigan.

Fiat rams are mexicans and fords....well who cares.

True-fully though, it is a global economy and you just have to grin and bare it. Even if it was built here, the parts are sourced from all over the world.

That's Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Almost all of the 1500 crew cabs are built in mexico and almost all of the extended cabs are built in Fort Wayne. Both Fiat and Ford have mexican assembly plants as well.

My 08 was built in Mexico. Funnily enough, it's the best built GM truck I've ever had. 4 years and still no rattles or squeaks in the interior. All that's gone wrong has been the door lock actuators (replaced under warranty) and bit of slop in the steering (steering column replaced under warranty. I blame those on supplier issues, not Mexican assembly.
