Made in Mexico?

It drove right up my butt when I crawled under my 2010 Sierra and saw "made in mexico" on the skid plate. All ram 1500 are built in america, but the HD's are made in Mexico. Most Fords are American made, sad thing is more Toyota's are made here than the rest of the "American" trucks.

 

Toyota may assemble lots of vehicles here but the money goes back to Japan. I'd much rather buy from an American brand, built here. Especially since moving to Michigan and seeing first hand how vital the industry is to my new home.

I don't see a problem with Mexican built trucks. Why do Americans seem to think the best things are built in America? I bet the Mexican works far harder than an American!

 

My truck was built in fort Wayne and its not the highest of quality by far. Thankfully I have no squeaks -yet

Because the best things are built in America, I would love to see everything built here again. I hate buying something that I know was made here but the company outsourced the jobs to another country and laid off all the employees. This is why we are in a recession, no one cares to buy American made anymore, instead they buy the item that is a couple bucks cheaper from another country.

Before anyone blast me for having a Ram thats made in Mexico, I don't have a choice on that. I wouldn't own a Ford and I didn't want a D-max, only option out there was the cummins (American made) for me.

No problems or qualms whatsoever with my Silao built Silverado. When I was employed, My state vehicle was a '89 Silao built Celebrity that ran like a bat outta hell and was tight as a drum, even after many years of bein' rode hard and put away wet!

I think the reg cab Rams are all made in Mexico. They always had more dirt on them when I was picking them up at the rail yard.

 

Then there is this, but it is a total for all trucks mfg'd under each brand name & does now separate out for cabs etc..

I too was apprehensive when I bought my new '09 Silverado CC that was built in Silao, Mexico. But it did have the engine and transmission built in America and a lot of the other parts content from America. Knock on wood, nothing on the truck has fallen off, and now I figure that maybe that GM factory job in Silao is probably an excellent job for the workers down there, and maybe they care more about doing a good job than some Americans may. It just seems inefficient for the General to ship all of the engines, transmissions, and other parts to Silao for assembly and then the finished vehicles making the lonnnggg rail trip back to the states (Chicago?) for distribution and sale. Maybe that's where all of the rail rust comes from?

My 2006 Sierra SLT 4x4 X-Cab was assembled at Ft. Wayne, but just about every part I have looked at has "Fabrique du Canada" either molded into it or has that on a barcode sticker.

 

The 2006 Toyota Taco that I traded in for the Sierra was made in the U.S. except for the Jap transmission.

 

The 1986 Ford T-bird I had was made in Canada.

 

My 2003 Kawasaki Concours "Japanese" motorcycle was assemble in Lincoln, Nebraska out of Japanese manufactured parts.

 

I think it will be funny to see that when we finally make contact with life from another planet, we will start beefing about whether or not something is "Made on Earth".

Last I knew reg. cab 1500 Rams were made in Mexico too.

Doesnt bother me at all, we got a 2011 and 2008. I mean what would it matter anyway I wanted the truck and it performs great. I dont have any control where its made.

At the end of Dec. I was glancing across the auto trader cars.com ads & found this Ram truck. Somehow it supposedly has 186 miles on it & is a 2010. But never the less, the details are below... Not knocking them as all mfg's are down there.

It does matter, the point I'm making is our country has been going down, and one of the leading reason's is because we ship all of our jobs overseas. If we made more stuff here like we used to, our economy would be stronger. America used to make everything we could ever need, from silverware to electronics. Now it's hard to find anything made here. I try my hardest to buy American made, sometimes I can't but sometimes I pay more for it. I do go as far as trying to buy Union made items, this is even harder, but not impossible. I try to help my countries economy before helping another countries, that all.

Strange how Canada is OK but Mexico isn't.?. With all due respect to both, why is that? I went to buy a new flag yesterday, found a nice one 3 x 5 with embroidered stars, stitched stripes, etc. On sale for 6 bucks. Made in China. Not cool. A truck from somewhere in North America is one thing, but an American flag from China? Shouldn't be legal. BTW, my ten month old truck from Mexico has had the same number of problems as my five year old truck from Canada, zero.

You see the problem is people shop at places like Walmart and like to buy things as cheap as possible, so companies make their product off breaking the backs of workers in places like China where its basically slave labor, that's why your American flag is made in China.

 

You'll never fix it either so there's no point in even trying to buy "home made". There are too many people who want it 10 cents cheaper.
