Why would FCC certification matter? International visitors use all sorts of phones we don't sell here and they work fine. Shouldn't it just be a matter of swapping the SIM into the phone and being done? I ask because I've never done the whole unlocked phone thing before.

I had a S4 using AT&T 4G LTE. Loved the phone, worked great everywhere except my home. Got rid of my landline about a year ago, so back it went. Back on a S3 3G Verizon.

A company has to pass a phone through FCC if it plans on selling it here officially(retail). Since Moto submitted itx that means there may be a plan to release it on a US GSM carrier.

 

Right now its ridiculous to import one. Local prices convert to almost $900 USD. The CDMA one for Verizon retails for $650

Yeah I realize if they want to sell it here there are loops to jump through but you can always get stuff off eBay or similar sites. Didn't realize it was so expensive though. My new iPhone 6 came last Thursday. I've been out of town so it's been locked in the apartment leasing office all weekend. Really pumped to go in there tomorrow and pick it up,

The Xperia 3 isn't available in CDMA I don't think. That would be my first choice. But for now I'll stick with my trusty iPhone 4

Ok if you have 4G it no longer uses CDMA. 4G runs on GSM bands
