I picked my Z71 crew cab yesterday. Didn't take long for my order to come in.

Turned 170 miles this evening. I ordered it with the 18" wheels. I was at the tire store this morning looking to put a taller tire on. I would like another 1 1/2" taller if it will fit.

Anyone have suggestions ?

I think I can help. I put 275 65 18s on the day I bought my 09 CC z71 4x4. They are about an inch bigger in diameter or 1/2 taller. I do not see a 285 in the Michelin ltx M/S I run. They do have them (285s)in LTX A/T2s. A 275 70 18 is a bit taller than the 275 65. I have plenty of room with the 275 65s.

 

I tried the LTX A/t 2(did not have the M/S in 275s when I bought the 09) and did not like. The ride was excellent but the tread picked up rocks/gravel and really rocked my lower panels. Discount changed them out for M/S when they came out in 275s. I have had the M/S on all my trucks for years and are good for light off road. (pastures, rock country etc.) and do not mud up like the A/Ts did.

you can tow with a levilng kit, just throw taller blacks in the back to compensate for the raised front

Don't see the point since level kits don't get you more suspension travel. I don't like wasting money on something that won't offer an actual gain in functionality.

not to pick on your answer but Are you sure. the 275 70 18 are only about 1/2 inch taller than my 275 65s on my 09 and they fit with plenty of room...?

I have not personally tried anything bigger but if you search on here the consensus seems to be that you can only go one width size up while keeping the same aspect ratio.

Leveling kits make the truck look better. As for functionality, I would say it helps from tearing your bumper off when going off road. I can't stand to see a truck nose diving.

I wonder how much difference you would notice in ride quaility with the Z71 vrs regular suspension?

I am also in the market for a 2014 gmc sierra cc and found one with all the options I want. It also has the off road suspension package. I wouldn't have checked that box. I doubt I'd ever have this truck off road other than maybe pasture. So, on regular highway driving would I be able to tell the difference? Will the gas charged shocks make the ride a little better or ?? Hate to pay for an option that I probably won't use, but if the ride would be noticeably better, then the $430 option will be ok. Since I see lots of discussion about tire sizes as it relates to the off road package, this truck has the 20" wheels with P275/55R20 All-terrain blackwall tires.

I have the off road package with 20s. The ride seems better than my 2010 z71 with 18s. I was close to needing tires for it before I sold it, and in almost every case I researched the 20 tires were cheaper than 18s.

Highway will be the same. Over bumps the Z71 is a little stiffer. I'm sure the 2014 Z71 still rides better than any 2013.

 

I have the "worst" possible ride set up for a 2014 ( Z71, All terrain, 20 in wheels, 275 tires) and this things rides like a damn cadillac.

It has never made any sense to me how 20" tires are cheaper than 18".

Just got mine. SLT with the Z71 package and the 20" wheels. Rides firm but nice. I need to let a little air out of tires, they have them at 41 lbs for some reason. They call for 32. I'm going to set them back to 35 with fall coming and cooler weather.

They ship vehicles on the auto carriers with high tire pressure to prevent flat spotting and to a degree control vehicle movement when tied down. Whoever did the PDI missed reducing the tire pressures.
