Zone 6.5" w/add a leaf. 35x12.5 tires.

How well does it ride with that add a leaf? And how much did it add to overall cost? Thinking of doing the add a leaf when I lift mine

Mike1220,

The add a leaf made it a touch stiffer but not enough to make it matter to me. The cost I'm not sure on cause it was just added into the whole lift package i got. I would do the add a leaf for sure if you plan on towing. Also some lifts sag in the back without it when just blocks are added and not complete springs for the lift.

Thanks. I am looking at the zone 4.5" lift and was thinking of the add a leaf but don't want to make the ride any stiffer. I thought I heard the add a leaf made it a bit smoother. Guess that was while towing

As of right now, not till the summer. Maybe sooner if I could get the funds but I still need to get a tuner and possibly headers before I do lift, tires, and rims.

I'm gonna order my 7" RCX lift and wheels and tires in about a week. I have plans on running the Bushwhacker pocket style flares also. I'm gonna run 35 12.50 20's, but my question is - what offset should I run to flush them up with the flares when I get them? I'm also worried about rubbing as well. This is my first truck to lift, so I'm kinda in the dark on some of this stuff.

Wanting to do a 6" lift on the truck but does anybody know of the laws specifically in Colorado. Have you been pulled over or is there regulations on altering the suspension of the vehicle from factory. Below is a link from a website I've read but even they are confused to Colorado law on this same goes with other websites with people who live in Colorado. Any intel on this would be great before I pull the plug on the modification.

honestly didn't do more than about 15 minutes of research just now but it looks like Colorado does not allow for ANY alterations to suspension system unless it is in the manufacturer's intentions. Looks like they do not want any kind of suspension lifts. Honestly, to me, it looks like the only option to stay technically legal, would be a body lift and maybe a leveling kit. But again, I didn't do anymore than 15 minutes of researching Colorado's laws. Went to 4 websites that all said the same basic thing as this site

http://www.liftlaws.com/colorado_lift_laws.htm

It is illegal to drive a vehicle with the front or rear suspension system altered or changed from the manufacturer's original design. Only heavy duty springs and shock absorbers are allowed to be installed. (I would think that they are referencing heavy duty springs for those people who tow a lot. But honestly not sure)

Also this law has been found to not be unconstitutional.

EDIT: another site is saying that you can lift it but only if the headlights don't go over 44" high and tail lights stay below 72" high. That's a pretty big difference in height

SORRY - POSTED IN WRONG FORUM. MODS PLEASE DELETE.

After speaking to Rough Country and BDS Suspension, a leveling kit for the 2015 Sierra 1500 Denali is a NO-GO. They said the magnetic ride suspension measures the vehicle rake and a leveling kit would throw it out of whack.

They said to try back after the new year and maybe they will have figured it out. Maybe will require reprogramming of the mag ride?

I'm kind of bummed about this. My truck should be here in two weeks and that was one of the first things I planned on doing. I'm very much looking forward to the mag ride though. We'll see....

Anybody that went with the bigger lift with 35's having any trouble with stabilitrac kickin in when going around turns? I know of 2 local guys, both 2014 silverado's one self install and one shop installed, both zone 6.5 lifts and both are doing the same thing. One of them we recalibrated the steering angle position and that seemed to help, but i have never heard whether or not it fixed it. The other we trield recalibrating the steering angle and its still doing it. Any suggestions. GM and Zone are playing dumb with this issue....

I hate to bring this up again, but I am still having trouble with my stabilitrak kicking in when I make sharp turns at normal speed. I have had the alignment checked and set to factory specs and had the steering angle sensor re calibrated back to zero. The thing is i don't think the factory alignment specs will work as that is for stock suspension. Now that the truck is lifted, it will be slightly different. Can someone who doesn't have an issue and has the Zone 6.5" lift kit installed post up their alignment specs that were used? Usually you will get a printout of the alignment. The specs are in the back of the Zone kit manual, but i have been told that is stock. The toe may need to be tweaked. Thanks.

    • Yes, you must have seen my thread on the Blazer. HOT GARBAGE, but I love them anyway. I'm convinced every car guy has a soft sport for an S/T series somewheres. Probably even a Panther too, if I'm being an honest car guy. That doesn't mean they aren't junk. And they definitely don't get better with age. I sometimes play with old cars, but that's by choice. I don't rely on them and they aren't my everyday fleet.   Derek plays the common man on Youtube and that's no doubt where he started. Now he has Youtube money (and Motortrend, etc). You think his crews and his wife ride around in old beaters when they're chasing him and his wrecks across the country? No he's got newer and nicer stuff for that, you'll see glimpses of it in the footage.
    • You refuse to own anything made in this century yet you reportedly own... a 2007 Silverado, which is now almost 20 years old. The dissonance.... turn up your hearing aid?   You clearly don't understand the government contracting process, brother. We send people to die on front lines, keep the public safe, and make people's husbands, wives, children enter burning buildings with equipment from .....wait for it.....   ...the lowest bidder....   Just because something is used for a long time doesn't mean it's good. But it might be cheap and plentiful.   Please, continue to whine about new trucks in a thread dedicated to new trucks, which you've said you'll never own. We get it. Go tell everyone how you're stuck in time on a Panther forum. I mean, Jesus, an 86 isn't even one of the good Panthers.
    • It really is comical when people don’t agree or see the reason some people prefer the older vehicles. They become condescending. All the while they may be busting their knuckles on old vehicles. I have found memories of swapping out engines in my old GM cars in a weekend without much hassle. Unlike today. One wrong move a computer will shut you down. Even on something as easy as a brake job. There’s a pretty comical YouTuber called the car wizard. A garage owner who puts it all in perspective. Another Vicegrip garage that’s shows just how tough the old stuff is.
    • I was around and remember that era very well, so I'm calling b/s on that statement. If they were that bad no police department or taxi company would've bought a single one ... but they were used in both services (and fire) for DECADES. They were bulletproof and proven. Even the early 21st century ones weren't too bad! The early models were legendary.   Mine is proof, but people like atlas are blinded by agenda and refuse to believe facts right before their very eyes.   Even decades after they were built, a new generation started driving them, posting all their builds and shenanigans on Grandmarq.net and Crownvic.net. The failures would show up then, since they all were deep past 100k-150k miles by that point, and younger drivers tend to be a little aggressive, especially with vehicles than can lay a one-tire fire for as long as you hold your foot in it. They've more than proven themselves over the decades.   The only thing that'll really take them out is road salt. The bodies and sheet metal were garbage. A victim of the cheapout FoMoCo and GM have been partaking in before then, and since.   Today it's the stuff that counts - the undercarriage that rots away first!    GMs Caprice was no slouch either. Reliable as a stone ax - the opposite of what they build now.
    • Let me know how your vehicles do in 10 years. You don't know ******, kid. 😂    There's a reason that Panther platform was used as police, fire, and taxi service for DECADES ... long before you were born, apparently.
