2014+ Suspension Lifts

I'm no expert by any means, but I've heard good things about all those lifts (including Pro Comp). Heard a couple negative grumblings about Rough Country though..

Rough Country is pure crap. Spend a few hundred more and get a ProComp. A lot better quality lift and it'll save you money in the long run.

I know some have heard negative about Rough Country and too you got to look at who installed their lift too and that can give you some insight as to why there may be some problems. Im running the 7" and have 20K miles on it so far and not a problem. I specifically wanted the Rough Country lift out of the others because I was looking at longevity, whether you agree with me or not its a matter of opinion. Heres why. The Rough Country lift is mainly drop down brackets and spacer parts and keeps basically all the same suspension pieces like UCAs, LCAs, Leaf Packs, and struts. Coming from the Xterra I was in and the aftermarket community there I seen so many times you have a aftermarket piece and when it goes bad you are at the mercy of the aftermarket manufacturer as to what they price it at or in a real hurt when they discontinue it and now trying to find new solutions. I chose Rough Country cause if my UCA bust, or my struts go bad, or any other suspension part for that matter i can replace it with stock GM parts as if it were stock height and I hope my parts would be cheaper as they are the same parts that they mass produce for the hundreds of thousands of the other trucks on the road. Didn't mean to take up a lot of space but just figured I give my opinion why I chose Rough Country since I plan to keep my truck for atleast 100K miles if not more although I really want a new z71 Tahoe hehe

hows the ride i heard so many negative comments on RC but seems you have grasp a solid idea of what it is to have RC. question though how often would u have to change the "gm parts" (suspension wise) would it be more often as oppose if i went with BDS of Pro Comp not to bust just want a clarification since I'm in the market for lifting just haven't decided especially when so many offer different methods on how to lift a truck seems like there really isn't a clear answer.

Remember though its gonna be stiffer than from the factory as soon as you add Load E mud tires on it whether lifted or stock but the only thing besides that is the rearend is stiffer due to the antiwrap blocks which is another reason I liked this kit so its worth the trade off. Ive spun my 35s and burned out a few times with no problem there. As far as the replacement parts go I was talking about maintenance ease in terms of owning a vehicle longer than 2 or 3 years and how easy it would be to source parts than say if a strut goes out on whatever other kit that uses their own parts that they may or may not make anymore or their replacement part price is ridiculous versus that of stock parts.

i understand you, question if i did get the 7" RCX on my 2wd what would be included( the lift ) and wat parts would need to be replace and how often? your making me lean towards the RC 7 in not sure on the price though.

What's the difference between the RCX 7" and the new 7.5" I saw on their site the other day? Sorry if this has already been mentioned. Looks like the 7.5" may widen the track width?

i understand you, question if i did get the 7" RCX on my 2wd what would be included( the lift ) and wat parts would need to be replace and how often? your making me lean towards the RC 7 in not sure on the price though.

As to life of the parts I'm unsure of since well who has a lifted or stock truck with a whole lot of miles. I plan that my suspension parts with have shorter life than if I left it stock but thats because of the bigger tires and that associated weight so time will tell. if you don't wanna go 7" do the 2.5" level then 1.5" body lift to give you 4" and squeeze some 35s and go that route

I too have A rough country lift, the 5" lift. I was going to go BDS but after talking to several shops they said Rough Country is a lot better just not the price but they actually do stand by there product. I had it installed in Fl. And two days later drove it over 800 miles home with no problems, beside the rumble from my mud tires. It rides almost like stock. What Steven said about parts is so true, there is nothing that I cannot get at a local Napa for normal wear parts. My truck will probably never see off-road but I'm sure it will perform just as good as on the street.

This is kinda of a blanket comment that is totally inaccurate. The new lifts are using drop ca brackets which is great idea. All lifted trucks will not be as smooth as stock unless your dropping big money on good shocks and struts for fronts or coilovers for that matter.

I have a buddy running a rc lift, not even sure the year, and has gotta have well over 100k on it and not any issues.

From what I have been reading, the BDS lift is a great lift. I have read some even saying that it rides better then the factory ride. Im mainly wanting to know, is a Pro Comp lift even comparable? I mean it is about a 1,000 dollar diffrence. Once again not trying to be cheap just looking for something more economic if possible. Thanks for the reply guys! Enjoying the forum

Does anyone have the torque specs on doing just the front end lift? I am looking at the RC 2" front life only, just need to find the torque specs on all the bolts that need to be retightened when all said and done. Thanks

the 7.5" lift uses new longer knuckles instead of dropping the UCA like the 7" kit. the geometry changes a little and pushes your front wheels out a little. the extra width is made up with a CV spacer.

looks like they have 5, 6 and 7.5" lifts with this config now, which are probably adaptaitons from the previous generation im guessing.

I am debating which 5" lift to get... knuckle or drop bracket

4" skyjacker lift

Stock wheels with 295/70r18 cooper st maxx

Would you mind sending me some pictures of your truck? I've narrowed my choice down to either the RC 5" or the Skyjacker 4" but I haven't been able to find many pictures of trucks with the Skyjacker installed. Yeah I'll see if I can get one next to a stock silverado. I do have a rough country 1.25 body lift I'll eventually will put on the truck. So that'll give you an idea of 5" too.
