In the end it's your truck and your money. It's kinda tough to go against what your local shops want you to install but I am willing to bet they never install the rough country bracket lift. Good luck with whatever lift you decide going with.

16 ltz lifted, looks pretty good! not a fan of the flares or wheels. but the front end is growing on me

That truck is perfect other then the stupid 5.5ft box if it had 6.5ft box I'd buy that truck them Chrome rims are nice way nicer then that cheap black out look I think the Chrome rims give it style back rims would just make it look like its ridding on four spares.

Hey guys new to this forum and GMCs. Been looking at a BDS And Pro Comp drop bracket lift. Anyone have any advise and pics of the 4" kit for a 2015 GMC Z71 4x4? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Posted

Just got the 4" BDS installed.

I went with 18x9 Fuel Cleaver -12 offset wheels and 305/65/18 BFG KO2's.

I only have about 25 miles on it so far, but I'll report my opinions soon enough.

How's the clearance on the BDS kit. Better than many other bracket kits?

I can get the BDS 4" lift installed with the fox upgrade for free with 1.5" hub centric wheel spacers, aligned, and tires re balanced for $2900......seems alright to me, or am I better off installing the kit myself? I do like to install my own stuff but I rather leave it to the professionals.

Would it look ok with 305/55/20s or would I have to step to a 295/60/20?

EDIT:

forgot to mention i have a 2" level right now and its not enough lift :D

I'd thats a pretty good deal.

Where is this quote? I haven't been able to find anything around that price with fox shocks for 3000 I would jump on that. I'm looking about that with fox.

I bought 6" lift with the fox coilovers for $2700 shipped. Message me your email address and ill send you a copy of my invoice. Then you can show that to your local dealer and they send it to BDS to approve it. Just keep in the mind the kit has increased about $300 since the time I purchased mine.

I dont care about reversible mods as this truck is mine and if anything will be lifted even more and never going to go back to stock.

I was told that the RC kits have fitment issues and that the BDS is a much better kit as well as a smoother ride with the Fox shock upgrade, that it would ride better then the stock....i have called 3 shops in town and all tell me dont buy RC.

Neither of these are true bracket kits as they use knuckles or spindles to make the drop. Just a note that all knuckle kits increase your front end track. So the front will be wider than the rear unless you run spacers in the rear.

Your opinion of RC is based on what ? The oversized leveling kits they make ? because everyone else make those also .The economy 4 inch kits are all that way .

So if you look at there bracket drops and they knuckle lifts what is "shit" about them based on your personal experience. Last I check rough country has a lifetime parts warranty on parts failures.

I am just curious because I hear this over and over but it usually from people who bought the crap oversize level kit or from someone who never installed one.

I have also heard all of this that is why i am staying clear of RC. I have yet to hear anything bad about a BDS kit....

If it being too expensive is your only complaint then it's worth it..... I've always said lol

I have no complaint with bds and I know nothing about the kit other than the expense and like you if I was to have someone else install a lift kit would go off there word over someone from the internet. That being said I worked in a Gm dealer for 10 yrs and Ford for 7 I was flat rate and ASE certified , I hold GM,Ford,Mitsubishi Fuso ,Isuzu, Chrysler and International Truck certifications ( granted many are from years ago). I have been running as Shop Dispatcher International Truck Dealership for about 6 years. So I feel that I can give the honest review of the kit I installed. I cannot review all of there products. I can also tell you from experience that alot of people that consider themselves mechanics will do more damage to your truck than any kit will. So looking for a reputable shop would be #1 concern if I was to have anyone work on my truck . Then I like you would probably go with what they recommend.

I installed my kit myself. There were a couple issues I wrote a review in this thread about my experience. If people want to comment on their experience I can take accept that.

What I can't accept is people saying RC is "shit" with no experience to back that up.

The only thing i kniw about the shop that will be doing the work is that i have about 7 friends that have all gotten lifts there and they have yet to have any issues. The shop also offeres lifetime warranty on the work they do plus the warranty of BDS they woukd work with the dealer if anything drivetrain related woukd happen.

Got a quick link to your thread on that install??

The only bad I've read about BDS is some 14 and up owners have had issues with stabilitrac after the 6" lift was installed and BDS was working with those owners to fix the issue.

The only bad I've read about Pro Comp was when the lift kits first hit the market some 2014 owners had front diffs go bad because of angle/lubrication after the 6" lift was installed. Pro Comp covered repairs with lift shield and corrected the angle issues. I haven't heard anything about it since.
