Cracked Dash 2008 Silverado LTZ CC VMax

Anyone experiencing cracks in dadhboards, ESPECIALLY in upper left corner near the passenger airbag?!

Please post your compaint on the NHTSA.org website!

This is not a consumer at fault problem!

I am about to be interviewed by local media and take these and many more internet complaints dating back to 2006 to a more FORMAL recall request via the NHTSA.org (National Highway Traffic and Safety.org), local media, and better Business Bureau, and anywhere else that will help take action!

Dealerships need to stand behind their products even when the manufacturer doesn't!!!!

Asking any of us to trust that this is safe or ask us to pay for the repairs is wrong especially since this occurs within 12-48 months of new vehicle purchase!

The more complaints the better the chance that GM will have to take action or at worst, your local dealerships will have to cover these repairs even if the problem repeats itself after repairs,

The goal..

1.prove that this is happening to a lot of vehicles not just a few!

2. if GM is unwilling to issue recall for safety, then issue a notice of safety that airbags will not randomly engage as crack compromises the integrity of the structure, and will engage when needed!

3. the problem seems to recur after repair and dealerships should not require consumer to pay for all or any portion of repairs!

Kind Regards,

Darmy

A cracked dash board is nothing new to me. I've driven a lot of older cars.

But one would think that something like that is over now.

Given all the new technology we have to pay for.

Maybe the car manufactures have lost focus on the important things by trying to make our cars able to talk to us.

Same issues here. Have a 09 silverado with cracked dash at airbag on passenger side and coming up driver console. I use adams interior product regularly and have fairly dark tint. Also have 2 more ext. painted door handles that are chipping. Already had 1 repainted under warranty at 25k miles. Went through GM customer service a while back, twice. Both times they concluded it is normal wear. Oh! Also i forget about my leather seat coming apart too! Not to mention i had to replace AFM lifters a while back (tick, tick, tick)! And my engine still runs rough at startup. Ive taken it to dealership 3 times, they claim its normal. In at 75k miles now.

Sorry, rants over- thanks for listening, lol!

Hello BLKGUMBEAUX,

I sincerely apologize for your multiple concerns and that you didn’t receive the resolutions you were seeking. Since you mention working with us in the past, I’d like to look into these concerns further for you. Could you please send us a private message with your VIN and case number? I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

My dealer reached out to me and said "they went to bat for me" by contacting GM, whom agreed to pay 75% of the repair cost. My portion is about $300.00

The Service Manager stayed that "when things are out of warranty" they can break, and they are providing a "good will" repair if I cover the above cost!

Ummmm... "Good will?"

I called GM and they offered the same to me! As did they offer to others around the country under some 140,000 warranty they can stick this into per GM approval!

Am I being cheap in thinking, why should I pay this when any portion of this repair?

MY local new station want an interview after seeing all the Gm complaints concerning this problem on the NHTSA.org site, and Change.org site

Thoughts?

Should I just pay for the repair and be done with all this? Or go ahead with the interview?
