This past weekend I got a fantastic 14.8mpg on the highway to and from Atlanta. But I was also going 85mph for most of the trip.

I've noticed that if you put the truck in M6 you'll go into V4 more often. I have done this the last few days and noticed my mileage has gone up 2 MPG during my commute to work

That curious, I'm going to try that.

I've been doing that since he suggested it and it actually did improve my mileage a little. Why this happens I'll never know, but hey, it helps, so it's fine with me.

Since I purchased the truck, about a month ago, I've averaged right at about 20 MPG. I pulled a 2 horse trailer, 1 horse loaded, for the first time today and took it down to about 11.3 MPG. I'm quite impressed with the MPG's this thing gets. Coming from a 4cyl Outback that got 27 MPG consistently, its not too shabby.

I tried it a year ago, and again last week. I actually got worse gas mileage, but my regular gas station is putting in new tanks and pumps. It didn't stay in V4 any longer than normal, maybe less for my driving. I tried it with both Shell 93 and Citgo 87 octane. It could have been the different brand of 87, but the Shell 93 is the same brands as my normal 87. Back in drive for me. Should be back to normal gas this week, I'll give it another shot then.

Anyone else calculate the MPG manually and compare it to the DIC?

I do it manually and enter this information into Fuelly (in my sig).

The DIC is always at least .5 better than actual results. LOL, I don't mind my mileage overall, but wish it was accurate.

Yep, I do every tankful. You can see a screenshot of mine a few pages back. Mine too is always around .5 better on the DIC.

I've been pretty much all E85 but have recently tried a few tanks of regular 87 and have been avg about 18 mpg mixed driving.

I've seen between .3 and .8 difference. The .8 was only twice in 21K miles

I wish these trucks had a "fuel consumed/used" screen for the DIC. My old Yukon had it and I always used that and it never matched perfectly to what went back into the truck at the pump.

Sometimes makes me wonder if the pumps are 110% accurate on how much is dispensed

Yeah, someone is off a little. Either the pump or the DIC calculations. However, being that I have gotten gas a different places to see what the truck likes best, and always come out to be about .5 off, I think it's the DIC calculation that is off.

I've never been in a vehicle that was right on when it comes to mpg. My f150 work truck, my jeep, and my motorcycle and my silverado are all between .5 and 1 mpg off to the high side.

My Saab 9-7x Aero (aka Trailblazer SS) was very close. Usually within .1 or .2.

In order for fuel pumps to be certified by weights and measures, they have to be set within .006 gallons and it is technically illegal to have all pumps set to either give to the customer any extra amount or the station owner. They essentially have to average out; some give, some take. But most guys set them right on 0 regardless. This is for Michigan and Ohio at least.

Also, pumps will click off at different times based on flow rate of the pump itself. So unless you fill up at the same pump every time, you could be clicking off at slightly different amounts every time.

I tend to trust the DIC when it comes to its readout, the DI engines know exactly how much fuel they are putting into the cylinders, so why wouldn't the truck know what MPG it is getting. Besides, every time I fill up, I am usually within .2 mpg what the DIC says and I always chalk it up to be the difference in filling up with different pumps.

I guess some trucks are different, mine is usually .7 off of what it should be.

I used the same station and pump and method 80% of the time. Still off, I blame Dic. ☺

I'm right there with you.

me too, except for 17 MPG on highway, I'm getting 13 on e85

    • Atlas,   Then following your logic we can't believe any story that the MSM produces? I mean it's documented they heavily donate to Democrat candidates. Vote Democrat in high percentages. Many MSM talents are married to Democrat politicians, Gov. employees. That goes for on-air and off, personalities and reporters. So they would all be biased and nothing they produce is to be believed in your mind?   Again the article simply was about ways AI can be used for pricing products. Nothing discounted current situations as a factor.    Again keep looking through your left/right lenses. I don't live my life that way.   And as a heads up this thread will be cleaned up again as much of this is off topic and is receiving
    • Yes, and only a couple years before delivery. 🙄
    • So you're saying toss the baby out with the bathwater? @txab posted article was her take on how AI can be used to manipulate pricing as it already does and has been rebuked by the judiciasry in housing. How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
