Infotainment system questions...

Hi all!

I stopped by the local dealership today to get my trade-in appraised in anticipation of offering a 2014 SLT. While I was there I looked at a 2014. Just a couple quick questions about the infotainment system for the few lucky ones here that have one in the garage...

How do you connect to the internet to use Pandora? Can you tether to your phone or mobile Wi-Fi hotspot? I couldn't tell in the settings.

Are you able to stream iHeart radio or SiriusXM via Bluetooth to the radio? If so does it impact the Bluetooth link for using the phone?

Thank you in advance!

Rich

How do you connect to the internet to use Pandora?

Truck uses your cell phone's signal (connected via Bluetooth) to access Pandora.

As for the rest of your questions, I have no idea....

Thanks for the quick reply!

Do you have to have a tethering plan for this?

Bluetooth streaming from your phone works good. Pandora your phone has to be plug in for it to work if you have an iPhone.. If you have android pandora will just stream via Bluetooth.

I have android so sounds like streaming to the radio from my phone I'll be good. What about the internet connection for the Pandora app in the infotainment system? Anything special needed for the internet connection to work?

Dang I phone. Drives me crazy having to plug it in. I heard its not GM's fault, it's apples. They need to stop being so greedy!

The pandora app on the infotainment is simply just a connection to the pandora app on your phone nothing more. No phone in the vehicle connected via Bluetooth or cable then the app is pointless on the screen.

Ahh ok. So in addition to having the Bluetooth connection you also have to have the Pandora app open on your phone right?

The infotainment will open the app on your phone but only after u select agree or allow on your phone.

Cheap screens - Screen appears to be good quality

Under-powered CPU - Definitely! It's much too slow. You touch the Audio icon (while the music's playing, so you would think it would be almost instant) and it sometimes might take a second or two. The Nav and Phone icons can sometimes take 2-5 seconds to open. I know that's nitpicking, but after using iPhones, iPads, Galaxys, and even Garmins, it seems like GM could have done better.

Shoddy programming - Seems good (unless the real reason for delay/slow speed is software not CPU?)

Its not like they've had any time to test this stuff. I love the looks of what they have done but hate a lag, even sometimes. Idiots. Not like the radio was the last addition to the truck.

I found the speed of my infotainment fine, my BlackBerry Z10 blue toothed flawlessly as well. My question is, how does song tagging work?

Hey do any of you guys have android phones that you connect with the USB connection? If so does it charge your phone while you're using it? If not then the battery could die pretty quickly if you are streaming Pandora...
