Infotainment system questions...

Agree with tj1973. I listen to talk radio and music stations, so I'm constantly changing to auto tone settings. But the screen won't go back to the main radio screen after making such changes. You have to manually surf through the screens. I'm getting better at doing it through the steering wheel and DIC, but a firmware/software update would fix those minor issues.

Don't get me wrong I like my Truck. But when you lay this amount for a vehicle, you expect more. Tis system is terrible. I should at least be able to change the screens using the steering wheel controls. Or page thru my favorites without trying to slide my finger across the screen, which most of the time doesn't work. Anybody else got any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or is it the same for everybody.

My favorites disappeared. It a real pain to get them to come up. I've been practicing using the steering wheel and getting better at it. But setting them is no fun. My dealer erased them all last visit, now I have to do it all over again! Lol

While this system has issues it is better than the Ford system, I traded a 2013 Explorer because the system was difficult to use and would lock up and when I would take it to the dealer they would tell me " could not duplicate fault". One time half of the dash stopped working. This system while limited see to me to be more reliable then Fords.

I have a 2011 Edge and that system is hands down better then this one. IMO, of course.

Had a rental Edge over Thanksgiving. Hated it. Stupid touch controls for heat and radio are impossible to use by feel and Sync is garbage.

I'm with everyone. I really hope a upgrade comes out.

I was browsing through my settings tonight and seen where it had a software update. I called the customer service line and they said it needs to be taken to the dealer for them to update it.The lady said she hasnt had anyone else call about this. just wondering if anyone else had seen this before?

Okay, I took my truck in this a.m. There is a ticking noise coming from the ending like it is a lifter or what we use to vall a "Tap It" when I was kid growing up. While there I told them that the heated seats was not working with the remote start. They told me that the lights on the heated and cooled seats button do not come on in the remote start phase but that the seats do heat and or cool during the remote start. So, unlike my 2011 Acadia which does illuminate the button lights in the remote phase, this new 2014 Sierra does not, and no way of knowing whether it is actually working. At 4* degrees this morning it sure as heck did not feel like it. Anybody else notice a ticking noise in their new engine.

Not sure exactly what you're hearing, but I think the prevailing opinion is that the direct injection makes that kind of ticking noise.

What does this have to do with the infotainment system?

Doesn't . But if you had read earlier part this thread, someone ask about the remote start aspect in conjunction with heated and cooled seats and why the lights on the seat buttons do not illuminate. As far as the infotainment system is concerned most all of us are in agreement, it is absolutely awful. Personally, this system really takes the enjoyment out of owning a new vehicle

One thing missing from the NAV maps is, as you are driving down the interstate the distance to the exits are gone. Remember in previous models as you are driving, on the right half of the screen the NAV would not only give you the next 4 or 5 exits and their distance to them but also the attractions at the exit, ie., gas, food, etc... This new system does not. You have to select these in your POI's and then they pop up on screen. Usually a little too late to see. I did learn that pushing the NAV button (middle screen right end) changes the map aspect. Also on the right side of the screen near middle top where the arrival time is located, if you push touch that time it will toggle between arrival time and distance to destination and how long or duration of the trip.
