So you often just go around posting random stuff in random posts? Once again please stay on topic...

One thing missing from the NAV maps is, as you are driving down the interstate the distance to the exits are gone. Remember in previous models as you are driving, on the right half of the screen the NAV would not only give you the next 4 or 5 exits and their distance to them but also the attractions at the exit, ie., gas, food, etc... This new system does not. You have to select these in your POI's and then they pop up on screen. Usually a little too late to see. I did learn that pushing the NAV button (middle screen right end) changes the map aspect. Also on the right side of the screen near middle top where the arrival time is located, if you push touch that time it will toggle between arrival time and distance to destination and how long or duration of the trip.

Not sure, but with my NAV maps, there is an option where you can have it display, gas stations, museums, food, POIs, etc. The NAV will display them as small icons on the map.

Does anybody else have an issue with the finger swipe function to scroll through heir set favorites? Mine works half the time. Last night when I got it to work, it just started jumping through a bunch of random stations.

I read something earlier about the finger swipe but not sure what was resolved. I have issue with the difficulty of the finger swipe and trying to get to the favorite you have stored. Earlier nth is thread someone ask about Pandora. Tried my Pandora yesterday and it work through my I phone but my list of channels or radios or whatever you call it. Is there a way to get that list to show on the infotainment system. Also heard on news this morning that GM recalling our Trucks cause system may cause a fire.

I thought navigation was partly powered thru XM, so wouldn't that update accordingly? Not having to buy $200 in updated maps?!?!

And as mentioned; the double tapping to change stations on the steering wheel controls is a bit annoying for a $50k truck....AND the screen does lag.

Enough of my complaining: Should updates for this system come in the future, do you think warranty at a dealer would allow an update to be covered? Perhaps a GM rep can comment??

As far as the swiping side to side on the favorites I found that it needed be almost slow and very deliberate. It's definitely not like you iPhone or Android...

These systems do have a way to go. Especially the NAV and music controls. In my 2012 the factory NAV displayed the roads in my new neighborhood. But on my 2014 it does not show my neighborhood. Called GM and I have the latest version for the NAV. Makes no sense. My 2012 also had no lag for the music controls and even had a built in hard drive to save music to. GM is going backwards with the system. I have moments every now and then where the screen blacks out or freezes when starting the truck. It only happens about once a month but I have to turn the truck off and reset it when it happens. 2012 never had that problem either.

Okay, maybe I'm missing something or have some sort of update. I LOVE the system. I don't have trouble with the swiping, I don't have to double tap to change the station either. I have actually just been mostly changing stations through the voice controls. It's so easy. I have a 2013 Ford as my work car and that voice recognition system is horrible compared to the one in my truck!

I definitely agree on the navigation screen itself they should display a map. I was told that this would be fixed with the next upgrade.i use my iPhone all if the time to get directions through Google, but would much prefer just getting the directions on the screen. It would also be great to be able to get Google Earth to work on screen for some of my out of the way places. Hopefully this will come soon.

Oh and BTW I can stream Pandora from my IPhone through BlueTooth just fine. I only drive this truck in the weekends so I have a lot to learn yet, but so far I have been impressed. A few things to work out here and there but that can be expected from a first year model IMHO.

I had a similiar problem. I took it to the dealer, they tried to replicate it, but had no luck. They ended up doing some research and found a reflash to update the mylink system, I haven't had the issue with my screen since. The only downside is when they reflashed the mylink software, I lost all my favorites.

So you don't have to double tab on the left side behind the steering wheel to change stations? I have to and I don't really understand why. Maybe there is a way to change that. As far as my voice recognition, I had a 2010 F150 with Sync, and it seems to work the same as that did, I wish the Chevy Mylink worked as well with my IPOD as my old F150 did.

Well now I'm going to have to check! I always just change the station on the touch screen or by voice commands. In my Ford I find myself repeating the same phrase over and over until I give up and make the call on my phone itself. I have an IPhone 4S and it picks right up in my silverado and streams Pandora and everything else Ive asked of it.

Put the music on the small screen and just use your up / down arrows on the front of the steering wheel to go through stations.

    • Hi friends - first time poster. I have a 2015 sierra Denali with 150k miles, I’m the second owner and she’s given me 75k of great service. I run a pulse AFM disable device. Starting Thursday when I exited the freeway after a short local ride it started idling rough, with an obvious misfire shake and was down on low end power.  I got it home and hooked it up to my scannner and found no codes but in live data a pretty bad misfire on cylinder 5. I replaced the coil, plug and wire with all new OE replacements (Delphi gn10165 coil, acdelco wire and 41-168 plug). It’s still behaving the same way after firing the parts cannon at it.   I know cyl 5 is a non AFM cylinder so I am not thinking this is AFM related but I’m kinda at a loss. injector? Bent pushrod? It’s running too well over 1k rpm to suggest those IMO. Has anyone chase this issue before and what was it? Any suggestions?
    • 2017 Silverado L83 5.3l 6speed transmission Hello, not a new member but havent posted in a while and my old signup info isnt working so had to create a new account. anyways, I have an issue with my truck and hope someone can spread some light on whats happening: -when it goes to 4cyl mode it makes a clunk sound (but not when coasting or going downhill) -when in 4 cyl mode and under load it makes a load pulsating sound (not a tick). -goes away completely when in M5 gear or when plugging in an AFM delete. Im guessing it is one of 2 things but im not convinced of either to be honest. 1. lifter stuck in v8 mode 2. torque converter shudder realistically it doesn't seem like the TC as there is no physical vibration , and it never happens in v8 mode. but maybe? and wouldnt a lifter make a sound whether with load or not? any ideas let me know please. thank you!
    • Which has made me wonder with the various engine failures of a few brands in the last few years, is it sub par materials such as lifters etc causing failures, or bearing clearances on the crank etc or perhaps bad designing of an engine physically or causing too much load on the components due to the hp/torque they can push out of them. Or is the oil viscosity and additive package of current oils or a lack of oil flow by an oil pump not able to supply sufficient oil at idle or under high load at low rpm. Or is it every item I listed that combined together has pushed the limits so far to the left that there is hardly a margin of safety left and add in some fuel dilution and too long of an OCI and premature engine failure is the result ?.
    • He is not saying that an SAE *W20 will have more viscosity than a *W40 due to MORE VII polymers. He is saying that although multiple *W40 may post in the PDS the same or similar 100 C and 150 C viscosities that the blenders choice of modifier TYPE and AMOUNT to get his chosen base to grade will not give identical real world viscosities in shear and at temperature. All will pass the SII test but not all will pass the 100 C HTHS (unpublished value) testing the blender does and relies on to get the required by law "percentage improvement' referenced to his last great work.    Tis the problem with the lie. Once told others are required to support it.
    • I have a `25, 1500 that auto sets on incline. Never knew that at first. I have the electronic shifter. Just think if it didn`t do that? Unlike a mechanical shift that you can muscle out of park, how would you get this thing out? That would be a problem.   What I found out later is, I don`t have to push the button to release. Just put it in gear.   Setting parameters? Don`t know if it`s possible.
